Yes, the Tacoma Invaders have invaded Bonita's life! But Martha consoles her with good cheer, humor and optimism through the playing season. One can still hike and camp in August when football practice is over...albeit, in 95 degree weather in eastern Washington. Oh, what fun.
some projects mistake grandeur for innovation. this massive fish farm was built on a remote island at great expense. but never sustained aquatic life to begin with. now it is an industrial ruin that occupies a vast chunk of an otherwise bucolic island off the cost of vietnam.
This comes from my new baby (100mm macro) and my first session with it last night. Luckily, my old 75-300mm Tamron had a nice little macro (1:2) so I've had some experience with macro before, but full life-size is really blowing my mind.
Anyway, I actually shot this late last night with no idea Ian was working on a similarly themed shot. Check his earth out here.
This is not photo shopped/layered in anyway. Those reflections come from a mirror sitting underneath the floating earth I created from water drops and food colouring.
The water just seemed to pool this way, no matter how much I tried to shape it and I feel like the almost "yin yang" shaped earth is sadly an ironic and over-optimistic view of the state of the world and environment today.

This sandwich packet, from famed British retailer Boots, proclaims: "We want to keep our planet in as good shape as your body; so all our sandwich packaging is made from trees from sustainable forests and is biodegradable and compostable, too".
They clearly haven't seen my body, although the comparison is an apt one. Both are collapsing under the weight of sheer excess, polluted by the ill-effects of affluent 21st-century society, and in danger of passing the point of no return if action isn't taken soon.

En daarom vierden we op 13 januari al het moois dat komen gaat. Al het goeds dat 2013 ons zal brengen. Optimisme, vooruitgang, verandering. Klaas Verschuure en Annelien Bredenoord keken terug op het verkiezingsjaar en spraken over het pre-verkiezingsjaar. Sophie in 't Veld vertelde waar het heen gaat met Europa en er is geproost op een nieuw jaar, nieuwe uitdagingen, nieuwe discussies en natuurlijk op het veranderende Utrecht!
