Bhakti Summer Sangha 2016
The second year of the Bhakti Summer Sangha was a great success, as it gave an oppurtunity to the younger generations to explore spirituality and practice activities such as meditation, kirtan, satsang, seva, and much more among their own peers.
The Summer Sangha has a schedule built around the 9 forms of Bhakti, so that each day the kids and young adults a taste of each of the forms of devotion. The participants are getting a chance to participate in workshops on music, on meditation, and throughout everything, on building a deeper and sweeter relationship to God - in the Guru, in His many many avatars, in the people, and especially within themselves.

My first!
And because it is my first for the project, it needs a proper entry:
What a perfect person to start my project with. Katherine epitomizes the reason why I started street photography in the first place. I'd walk down the street and spot a sight of AWESOMENESS. Then I get an undeniable urge to photograph it! This is exactly what happened with Katharina.
So, I was walking down the street (go figure, huh?) to get to the Geldautomat (aka ATM) because I had no cash to buy myself a delicious Döner Kebap. I get about 100 meters to the spot, then BOOM! PINK EXPLOSION! PINK PANTS AND PINK PURSE! What a BOLD WOMAN! The color just screams "Hey, hey, take a picture!" I freak'n LOVE people who wear bold colors. Immediately, I get a twitch. My trigger finger keeps getting signals from my brain to click the shutter. But I can't, not yet. She's too far away. As she is walking in the same direction as I, I continue my path to intersect hers. Unfortunately, at the time of crossing, she was on the phone. I thought it'd be rude to bother her. And so, I walk past, missing that oppurtunity. I continue to the ATM.
Take two! Right when I finished grabbing my cash she comes walking down the stairs. I see the pink again. I get that twitch again. I wait till she comes off the stairs and then take the plunge. I was not going to let the opportunity slip me again. "CARPE DIEM!" is my life motto! I didn't even bother with a German opening; she looks like a student, and they're all fluent in English (Good, because mein Deutsch ist noch schlecht). She asked why I wanted to take her photo, and so I tell her about the project. She thought it was a pretty cool idea and asked if I had anything on the internet to check it out. So I gave her my card (that's right, a card. To become a Professional, you have to BE professional, right? :D ). I asked her what made her want to wear that color. Simply she quipped, "It's the best color!" I can concur. Shoot, even I love wearing pink!
I wish I would have talk to her more to hear her story. Maybe if she checks this out I can (and maybe yell at me if I got her name misspelled).

My mom is coming today!!! Washing the dishes was the first step of a whole house cleaning. I had been putting off doing major cleaning for a long time so this was my oppurtunity to catch up ... i cleaned the fridge, matthew got rid of all the dust bunnies under our bed and we got rid of a bunch of piled up paper/letters etc. Feels good to finally get to doing the things you have been meaning to do! Now i can go enjoy being with my mom!! YAY!!

This the real Craigh Na Dun! Or the one that was envisioned by Diana Gabaldon and Starz. The stones are real but the place is not. It's the scene in the first episode of the series where we see druids dancing before sunrise.. Since its the last set in the series I wanted to make sure we did this right! If you are an Outlander fan or know someone who adores the series, please consider sharing this with them. It's always appreciated and helps us get seen! Thank you!!
This is the third and final set in the series. It's bittersweet I think because we captured so much awesomeness and I am pretty sure we got everything I wanted and envisioned. I accidently deleted the entire first set of photos and it's like losing a piece of your life. That might be hard for some to understand but our art is our life. The second set was shot at a location that wasn't planned but more of a plan B at the last minute. Still, we made it work. For the final set there was no compromise. What starts as just one vision quickly becomes the vision of all invovled and they become the embodiment of what you are after. Take those souls and the soul of a magical place and the soul of life on earth and you get gold! I truly believe that if you remain true to what you feel in your heart and you dont compromise for anything or anyone then your path will always be pure. I think people can always tell when something comes from deep within your soul, the deepest places of spiritual visions. Where ideas are not just ideas but you live these emotions and paths everyday. They are like second nature.
So many people connected with this idea. Being 100 feet above a forest and gathering to watch a sunrise. Few people ever do this or have the oppurtunity too in this way and I think the photos made some people think of what they might be missing so while this may be the last shoot in the series I have decided to do something every autumn around the solstice. People can come dance, sit quietly or just watch the sun rise up with those they know and love. Life is more beautiful when we are closer to nature. This is how it was all meant to be. These are gifts and should not be wasted.
Many thank you's to Diana Gabaldon's Outlander for giving breathe to this entire series, without her I dont think it would have been the same. Her fictional place not only inspired a beautiful series but made some of the best memories for us all. To the sisters that have been there through all 3 sets and 1 am wake up calls...., Holly, Deb, Mary, Angela, Renea, Ursula, Rhonda,Lindsay,Sue and Sandra. Without you all nothing connects and the magic is only half of what it should be. You guys are my heart and soul.

On Sunday, i got the oppurtunity to photograph Underage Festival for RedBull Reporter. This is most certainly the biggest oppurtunity and event i have covered in my life. I photographed bands such as Hadouken, Don Broco, Ellie Goulding and Professor green.

My sister was given the oppurtunity to do some interior design work for one of the homes featured in this year's Homearama.
She wanted me to go out and snap a few photos for her portfolio. These are a few of the better looking shots I think. I may add more if I have time to edit them some.

Sixteen Year 9 girls from 13 Hampshire schools undertook a residential work experience programme from the 16-20 February 2009 on HMS Bristol. The girls and three staff from the Women in Science and Engineering campaign visited HMS Sultan on the 17 and 19 February 2009. The aim of the visit was for the girls to have an oppurtunity for practical experience in engineering and to meet female engineer role models. This visit also aimed to increase the girls interest in engineering and inspire them to take engineering up as a career.
