A number of arrests have been made in dawn raids across Manchester today, Wednesday 15 December 2010,
The arrests are part of operation to crack down on drug dealing and the crimes often carried out by addicts to feed their habits.
The arrests follow months of intelligence-gathering following reports of drug dealing in Gorton, Withington and Levenshulme.
Officers also found out that within a short distance of the dealing, people were being subjected to thefts and robberies and then the stolen goods were being sold on nearby.
About 400 officers are involved in the operation and 28 homes are currently being searched.
The suspects are all in custody on suspicion of offences ranging from supplying class A drugs to handling stolen goods.
Officers have also seized suspected stolen good, including tools and bikes.

Fifteen people have been arrested by Greater Manchester Police in raids as part of an operation to target drug dealing in Oldham.
The people were arrested when officers raided 15 addresses just after 6am today, Thursday 21 July 2011.
Officers from Oldham's Neighbourhood Policing Teams launched the operation, codenamed Operation Rescind II, as their response to concerns the community had that drug dealing was a problem and, in turn, increasing crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
The raids follow on from Operation Rescind, where officers raided 16 addresses in March 2011, which came after months of investigations by officers from the Oldham division and Serious Crime Division into the distribution of heroin and crack cocaine.
In the latest raids this morning, 15 men were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, including possession with intent to supply class A drugs, after officers executed warrants across the Oldham area. Properties were raided in the Hathershaw, Chadderton, Westwood, Alt, Werneth, Moorside and Ashton-under Lyne areas.
Shotgun ammunition has been recovered from one address and a quantity of cannabis has been recovered from another.
More than 100 officers were involved in the raids and included officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Serious Crime Division, tactical aid units and dog handlers.
Superintendent Catherine Hankinson, from Greater Manchester Police's Oldham Division, said: "Today shows that the desire to rid our communities of the blight of drugs is continuous and we will go back and keep tackling the issue in the same area as many times as necessary until the problem is dealt with.
"Residents told us that class A drug dealing was a worry to them so we have responded robustly to combat this.
"Drugs wreck lives and the crime associated with them causes misery to the whole community - so we do everything possible to find out who is responsible and put them before the courts.
"These arrests are the culmination of hundreds of hours of work by officers and we have used divisional and force resources to gather the intelligence we needed to take this action. It is not a quick process and we thank the community for their patience while we have been building the strongest case possible."

Greater Manchester Police have today, Monday 19th of September, carried out a series of raids as part of Operation Azuma, a police investigation into burglaries in Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Stockport and North Manchester.
The operation, which began with a large-scale briefing, saw officers visiting addresses in the early hours of the morning.
So far, 16 people have been arrested for a variety of suspected offences, including firearms offences, burglary, handling stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary, theft of motor vehicles, possession of Class A and B drugs with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis.
During the searches, officers recovered up to £150,000 worth of stolen cars taken during burglaries, a pistol and ammunition, Class A and B drugs, a cannabis farm and stolen property, some of which is suspected to have been taken during the disorder in Greater Manchester last month.
North Manchester Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said: “This operation is an example of our continued fight to reduce burglary right across Greater Manchester.
“Burglars who target people’s homes remain very much at the top of our list of priorities, as we see first-hand the untold misery and distress they cause. We are intent on finding all of those who are committing burglary and hopefully the arrests made today, will have an impact on the amount of burglaries taking place across Greater Manchester.
“This is only the first wave of raids, and those involved in burglary or trading stolen goods should beware, because the next door we come through may be yours.”
"We will continue to listen to and support our local residents and will aim to keep people informed of the work we are doing where they live. Members of the community can also contact their neighbourhood policing teams by phone, email or by arranging to visit their local officers.”

Greater Manchester Police’s Traffic Network Unit has, today, (1/4/11) run a major operation to tackle all aspects of road-related crime and antisocial behaviour issues in the Trafford area.
Specialist traffic officers worked with local neighbourhood policing teams and partner agencies on the operation, which included driver education, HGV checks, speed, seat belt and mobile phone enforcement and the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) to target criminals using the roads. Superintendent Craig Thompson said: "The aim of the operation was to reduce crime, educate people, improve quality of life and ultimately save lives."

Aside from the armored rovers, the two main types of marines sent to Mars was the tactical marine and grenadier marines. The grenadier was armed with a multipurpose anti-air/anti-tank/anti-personnel rocket launcher.
Yesterday, Sunday 29 September, saw Greater Manchester Police working to allow two major protests to take place while ensuring the rest of the city could carry on as normal.
The protests were timed to coincide with the Conservative Party Conference which is currently taking place in the city.

Officers from the Rochdale Division of Greater Manchester Police today launched a major crackdown, named Operation Frond, against drug crime in the town’s Middleton and Heywood areas with properties raided in the early hours.
Over 100 officers were involved in the raids and searches will continue for the rest of the day.
Superintendent Martin Greenhalgh for Rochdale Division, said: “This operation has taken months of intricate planning and dedication by a large team of officers.
“Communities have told us that they want drugs and drug dealing tackled across the borough and I hope that today’s action highlights how seriously we take these crimes.
“It also sends a message out that we will not let people profit from spreading their misery in our neighbourhoods and we will continue to use all the powers and resources available to put people before the courts.”

KABUL, Afghanistan – Army Brig. Gen. Francisco Espaillat, commanding general, 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), an Army Reserve unit headquartered in Orlando, Fla., traveled to various locations throughout Afghanistan to visit Soldiers and civilians from the 143d ESC. In his travels Espaillat met with leaders from the 207th Regional Support Group, a unit headquartered in Ft. Jackson, S.C. and aligned under the 143d ESC when not forward deployed. Members from both the 143d ESC and 207th RSG provided Espaillat a mission overview while sharing experiences and posing for photos.
Many members of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command serving in the New Kabul Compound were originally assigned to the 143d ESC. Espaillat met with each section to discuss an array of topics and provide guidance to the Soldiers.
The 143d ESC and 207th RSG are currently deployed throughout Central Command’s area of responsibility in direct support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Both units are scheduled to redeploy later this spring.

Detectives across Greater Manchester have made six further arrests this morning (13 January) as part of the continued investigation into the criminal use of encrypted communication services.
At around 6am today, officers from GMP's Serious and Organised Crime Group (SOCG) executed five warrants at properties across Cadishead, Worsley and Whitefield.
Four men, aged between 27 and 42, and two women, aged 27 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of a range of offences, including money laundering, conspiracy to supply class A drugs and firearm offences.
Cash, cannabis and high value assets including jewellery and electronic devices were also seized during property searches.
They all remain in custody for questioning by detectives.
Today's action formed part of Operation Goodwin; an investigation into an organised crime group involved in the large scale supply of class A drugs and firearms within Greater Manchester and the UK.
Op Goodwin forms one part of GMP's strand of the National Crime Agency (NCA) led Operation Venetic.
Launched in July 2020 by the NCA, Operation Venetic brought together nearly ever law enforcement agency across the UK, focusing on the takedown of 'Encrochat' - a sophisticated encrypted communications service - often used by organised criminal groups.
Since its inception GMP has launched multiple investigations into the activity of numerous organised criminal groups and this has seen 216 people arrested, with 170 of those charged with a range of drug, money and firearm offences.
Detectives have also been successful in seizing over £2million in cash, numerous high-value assets and multi-kilos of both class A and B drugs.
Detective Inspector, Justin Bryant of GMP's Serious and Organised Crime Group said: "Today's action, arrests and seizures are yet another positive step forward in our continuing commitment to tackle the activity of organised criminal groups across Greater Manchester.
"The takedown of the encrypted Encrochat communication services has allowed us a deeper and more personal insight into the world that these people operate in and since 2020 we've been working tirelessly to decipher messages and identify all those involved in this activity.
"The mammoth operation has seen over 200 arrests made so far and I have no doubt that these figures will continue to rise throughout 2022 as we continue in our fight against this type of criminality, removing those involved from our streets.
"These individuals may feel untouchable, but I hope these figures clearly demonstrate that GMP, alongside the NCA and other law enforcement agencies, will ensure the law soon catches up with them."

Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Protector ran again last week providing security for the 2011 Conservative Party Conference, which was held at Manchester International Conference Centre.
Operation Protector is one of the Force’s largest undertakings and sees officers and staff from across the organisation deployed in the city. The operation is structured to ensure the security of the conference while still maintaining day-to-day policing continues as normal across the region.
This was the fifth occasion the Force has mounted Operation Protector during a major political conference in the city. The operation will run again next year when the Labour Party host their conference in Manchester.

A new joint operation - called Operation Vortex - has gotten underway today (Wednesday 19 January 2022) in Oldham to crack down on vehicle crime and traffic offences in the district.
The Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit, along with officers from GMP's Safer Transport Team and officers across the Oldham District, worked along the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency at a static base in Chadderton, stopping a number of vehicles either committing traffic offences, or vehicle crime.
Two men arrested, one on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs, and one for driving while disqualified and remain in custody for questioning, ten vehicles have been seized for being driven with no insurance, and one stolen vehicle has been recovered.
In addition, officers also reported 35 traffic offences for a range of driving offences.
Chief Superintendent Mark Dexter from GMP's Specialist Operations said: "This will become a regular operation across Greater Manchester, where we will strive to make our communities and roads safer, tackling illegal vehicles which we know that are all too often used in crime and cause harm and misery on the roads.
"I hope this sends a strong message to anyone thinking of breaking the law on our roads, that we are watching, and we won't hesitate to take action to remove you and your vehicle from the road."

A VIS deep-cover asset, codenamed Sapphire, had been compromised and captured by the rebel militia known as the Ligeria Liberation Army (LLA). Intelligence pinpointed Sapphire’s location at a house near the Ligeria-Nagonia border region. Due to Sapphire’s extensive knowledge of the LLA, a low-visibility rescue mission was authorized.
Team 7 was tasked with executing the rescue operation. After receiving their mission brief and formulating a plan, the team began preparing their gear and equipment for the mission. Each operator meticulously checked their weapons and communications gear to ensure everything was in perfect working order. Ammunition was distributed, and medical kits were stocked.
With every detail accounted for, Team 7 launched the high-risk rescue mission. Before departing, the team took a quick photo to mark the occasion.

Five people have been charged following a day of action in Trafford.
Operation Wellington took place across the district yesterday (24 May 2022) when a total of nine people were arrested as officers carried out a series of arrest warrants.

Following a 401st Army Field Support Brigade command brief and a tour of the AFSBn-Bagram, Logistics Task Force Bagram redistribution property assistance team area, Maj. Gen. Robert S.
