Yesterday, Sunday 29 September, saw Greater Manchester Police working to allow two major protests to take place while ensuring the rest of the city could carry on as normal.
The protests were timed to coincide with the Conservative Party Conference which is currently taking place in the city.

Operation Dragoon (initially Operation Anvil) was the code name for the landing operation of the Allied invasion of Provence (Southern France) on 15 August 1944. The operation was initially planned to be executed in conjunction with Operation Overlord, the Allied landing in Normandy, but the lack of available resources led to a cancellation of the second landing. By July 1944 the landing was reconsidered, as the clogged-up ports in Normandy did not have the capacity to adequately supply the Allied forces. Concurrently, the French High Command pushed for a revival of the operation that would include large numbers of French troops. As a result, the operation was finally approved in July to be executed in August.
The goal of the invasion was to secure the vital ports on the French Mediterranean coast and increase pressure on the German forces by opening another front. After some preliminary commando operations, the US VI Corps landed on the beaches of the Côte d'Azur under the shield of a large naval task force, followed by several divisions of the French Army B. They were opposed by the scattered forces of the German Army Group G, which had been weakened by the relocation of its divisions to other fronts and the replacement of its soldiers with third-rate Ostlegionen outfitted with obsolete equipment.

Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Protector ran again last week providing security for the 2011 Conservative Party Conference, which was held at Manchester International Conference Centre.
Operation Protector is one of the Force’s largest undertakings and sees officers and staff from across the organisation deployed in the city. The operation is structured to ensure the security of the conference while still maintaining day-to-day policing continues as normal across the region.
This was the fifth occasion the Force has mounted Operation Protector during a major political conference in the city. The operation will run again next year when the Labour Party host their conference in Manchester.

The armored rover was fully collapsed on arrival, and had to be able to be assembled in less than 5 minutes. The turret held two enhanced ray guns that swiveled and elevated/lowered when the pilot would look in a direction; similar to an AH-64 Apache's gun.
Operation Rolling Thunder was a frequently interrupted bombing campaign that lasted from 24 February 1965 until the end of October 1968. The purpose of this campaign was to influence Ho Chi Minh to abandon all hope in his ambition to take over South Vietnam. At first, this operation began to show the determination of America, and in hope would prove to Ho Chi Minh that the violence would escalate until he backed down. Also, this operation was intended to help boost the morale of the South Vietnamese. Although the Johnson administration had intended for this operation to hurt the destroy the North Vietnamese and their military equipment, they did not want the North Vietnamese to be defeated in fear that supporters of Communism, such as China and the Soviet Union, would intervene in the war. The purpose of this campaign was an attempt to change the North Vietnamese policy. In an attempt to persuade the North Vietnamese to negotiate, President Johnson restricted the bombing in North Vietnam. After that plan failed Johnson again brought on heavy bombing on North Vietnam and soon after that negotiations began. As of then, Operation Rolling Thunder had ended.

The 4th annual earthquake functional exercise was conducted March 12 by U.S. Army Garrison Japan’s Directorate of Emergency Services. The exercise was held in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on the Camp Zama installation. Operation AVRO is a forcewide initiative that delivers a surge of extra resources and specialist officers to a different district within Greater Manchester each month.
This month saw the operation take place in Wigan.
The operation targets crimes that members of the public in that district have told us give them the most concern.
Members of the press and key partners, including local representatives, are invited to attend Operation AVRO deployments to see results first-hand and conduct important multi-agency work, such as welfare visits.

Yesterday, Sunday 29 September, saw Greater Manchester Police working to allow two major protests to take place while ensuring the rest of the city could carry on as normal.
The protests were timed to coincide with the Conservative Party Conference which is currently taking place in the city.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Dec. 3, 2017) Sailors from NATO's Operation Sea Guardian Focused Security Patrol flagship ITS Andrea Doria conduct a friendly visit onboard a fishing vessel in the central Mediterranean Sea. Following the invitation of the Master, the Italian boarding team met him and his crew onboard the Egyptian fishing boat. During the visit, information were exchanged, and technical support was provided by one specialized Italian crew member to the Egyptian crew, giving tools and guidance in order to solve a technical issue affecting the fishing gear system. The event is an example of the Maritime Situational Awareness task of the Units operating in the context of NATO Operation Sea Guardian, by which the Allied Command can have a better understanding of what is going on at sea, therefore identifying unusual events or potential threats to the security, building and improving at the same time confidence with the majority of the actors operating at sea.
