Old sign just northeast of Big Springs, Nebraska on U.S. Route heading west indicating the new shorter route to Denver, Colorado. In looking at google maps of the junction of U.S. 30 and U.S. 138, the corn fields are still there. Image was found in a stack of negatives that my mom had in storage and were taken by either here parents or grandparents in or around 1930. Image digitized using my Nikon D850. P.S. If you look closely toward the left center of the sign, it looks like someone peppered it up nicely with a few round. :-) Hope everyone is having a great week. :-)
This is for my dear friend Lily who shares a love of the moon with me. Hey, girlfriend, this one's for you!

A well worn but close-knit family of trees at the summit of Mt.Halla on Jeju Island, South Korea.
Perfect weather... snow covered trees and icicles everywhere... people "ooooohing" and "aaaaahing" all along the trail...What a day...

Thank you for your comments and have a great day!
I just heard from Deb and Sandy and they are finally leaving Phoenix, AZ. However, they are heading back to Ontario, California and may be there for a few days. They have not gotten very far since they left a week ago but - 1 week down - 3 weeks to go.
Clever Little Flower...... Only has one purpose in life and that is to replicate itself globally. Since living here in Germany I have actually grown (no pun intended) to like these little guys that seem to pop up everywhere and brighten the lawns of so many. Some of my friends back in the states spend hours digging them up, mowing them down and spraying all kinds of herbicide on them. What they don't seem to understand is this perfect little plant will always be here and will come to visit their manicured lawns each year through the calmest spring and summer winds . I think for now I will simply do what my local neighbors do, which is enjoy the color they bring to the lawn and the smiles they put on our faces.
Hope all my friends and followers on flickr have a wonderful spring! :)
This doggie was so cute .. he was hanging out of a window ..

A couple takes a stroll under the Galata Bridge (in Turkish - Galata Köprüsü) in Istanbul Turkey while fishermen are dangling their lines from above and the daily football (soccer) game is being played on the big screen inside..
I hope everyone's week is as bright as this flower ... We are at home enjoying some down time ... Dave is buying more and more fishing gear - he thinks he's going to catch that big one! ... We have a tax audit tomorrow ... life is good .... Flickr notified me my account payment is due - don't they know that flickr friends are priceless! What's going on in your world!
Wishing you all the best ... deb
This is Peek-A -Boo.. She was originally found in Oklahoma and is a 3 toed box turtle. My sister was taking care of her but she was having some eye problems so I will have her for awhile. With my Turtle first aid kit she should be fine in about a week.

It decided it had enough of my fumbling around trying to get the exposure right, so off it went, bitchin at me as it flew off! Hmmm! Sound Familiar?

"SANDS OF TIME"
It was a perfect summer day four years ago. The sun was already high above me as I parked my car in the shade of a small grove of trees near the northern end of Gwakji Beach on the western side of the island. I excitedly hopped out of the car and grabbed my camera bag from the backseat. As I made my way through the trees, rays of sunshine and a light breeze swept over me.This was going to be a great day.
Just a short distance away, the trees began to thin out and I found myself standing on a bluff with a incredible view spread out in front of me: sparkling bluish-green water, a deep blue sky, and a brilliant, white sand beach. It looked like something you'd see on a postcard.
I had only snapped a couple of photos when I heard loud, animated laughter below me. It was a family picnic. I watched them for awhile. The father setting up the barbecue grill, the mother taking out the food from the cooler and setting up the umbrella, and the kids dancing across the sand and into the sea. It brought back lots of childhood memories of times spent at the beach with my own family and friends back home. There's something magical about beaches and the way they bring the natural landscape and people together.
I decided to put my camera down and spend the rest of the day doing what everybody loves doing at the beach: swimming, eating, and playing in the sand. But, an idea had begun to form in my mind and what had started out as a simple trip to the sea turned into a four year odyssey photographing the beaches of Jeju Island.

While in Rome last week, I woke up on my birthday with my lovely wife by my side and while enjoying the beauty of the new day I strolled out to the balcony and was able to capture this early morning shot. As I looked at pictures that would remind me of both the vacation, my wife and of new things to come in the New Year for posting to Flickr, I decided on this one to help me realize how wonderful this world is and that every day should be as bright in our hearts as the sun was on this particular morning. Taken on 27 December 2013 from the balcony at Rome Cavalieri overlooking the city of Rome.
Happy New Year to all my friends, followers and fellow photographers on flicker!
