Plenty of growth after a mild winter and lots of blossom, although we don't expect to be able to eat any olives

Olivetrees near Canet lo Roig, this is the 'ruta de los olivos milenarios'- a hiking trail through olive groves with trees that are over 1000 years old. These trees are still bearing fruit. The oil is DO.

Nature's sculptures. So much thought must have gone into this tribute to the great Cervantese that the surround of olive trees must have some special significance. I love them because of their gnarled beauty (and the 'acquired taste' for olives didn't reach me till my 50's!!)
As olive trees get older they become more interesting and at the same time more expensive.
I don't know how old this tree actually is but I'd guess it was first planted well over a century ago.The tree is in perfect health and probably produces a decent crop of olives each year.

You can tell that the tourist season has arrived because we had our first thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. And after the storm this beautiful rainbow, which I thought was nicely framed by the olive trees in our garden.

when I was a kid I used to read an old book: "Umbria, your region". The pictures in it were strongly saturated, the printed colors were a little misaligned and the pictures were a little lighter on the edges, but full of olive trees and colorful flowers. Playing with some pictures I shot today, I had the same feelings.

When, in Sousel, we drove along an olive tree field with the floor covered in poppies, all we could do was get out of the car, absorb and capture it.
