This old chestnut tree stands by the railwaystation in Halden - Norway

As a monster, with a billion tentacles,

it stands proudly to the sky, ready to protect

all the little inhabitants who sought refuge in its center.

A hundred withered autumnal tears;

a hundred pining springs,

without a breath for the hopes and fears

that come to you and me.

It must have stood for a hundred years,

the stoic chestnut tree

This tree has stood for well over 300 years - probably closer to 400. It is on the grounds of the Brentwood Public Library in Brentwood, TN.

A n art on a Tree created by the nature.

I had the urge to call this one "Soul glo." I'm really glad I resisted that urge.

This is the iconic tree (or one of the iconic trees) at the iconic Crater Lake, taken during last week's night-sky workshops there. The white wood (there's very little actual bark left on this thing) really soaks up the light; the sun was well beneath the horizon when I took the foreground shot for this one, and I was more than a little surprised to see just how much post-sunset light was still hitting the tree. Anyway, this tree, or what's left of it anyway, won't be around forever. I'll be sad when it falls, although I'll feel a little better about it being so well-documented.

There are what I consider to be two classic compositions for this tree, and both perspectives are to the tree's right side. One is very close in, and one's pulled a little farther back. I've taken both of those shots in the past, and I wanted to try something a little different this time.

The land and sky exposures were taken about 20 minutes apart, and the star exposure was added in from an exposure taken about 15 minutes later.

it was growing and got lots of new branches. It is now cut down

I found this tiny tree somewhere in the mountains and wanted to push it into my MINI...

...it didn't work and I can't tell you why. 😄

Just a fun fact: Do you see that huge branch on the right side? There's a fir tree growing ON that branch!!

I guess this tree is about 600 to 800 years old, maybe even more, as it grows at an altitude of 4000 ft/1200 m and the annual period of growth is quite shorter than in the valleys

This tree growing at Bishopscourt is thought to have been planted in the time of Bishop Wilson who was Bishop between 1697 and 1755 which makes it in the region of 300 years old and as such is one of the oldest surviving trees on the Isle of Man. Over the years it has suffered some damage and lost a limb or two but it is still growing well.

“If these olive trees could talk, they’d have a lot to say”

The local millennium olive tree groves in north eastern Spain are home to some very old trees, some over 2,000 years old, dating all the way back to Roman times.

continuing to become better acquainted with this new-to-me Graflex Crown Graphic 2x3 and with working with sheet film generally. I like much about this image. Am puzzled though by thebreakdown of the surface into abstracted little tonal blocks (hinting at a Cezanne-like compartmentalization). Developer, fixer, developing process in general (temps, time, so on). The film? Ah, the many mysterious variables...

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.

The local people call this tree ต้นผึ้งยักษ์, Giant Bee Tree or Giant Tree. There are several bee nests in the tree. With a height of up to 40 meters and several hundred years old, this tree belongs to the Moraceae family. The Ficus albipila is a rainforest tree, a type of fig tree native to Thailand and Southeast Asia. Ficus albipila is commonly known as the "Elephant Ear Fig" or "White Fruited Fig." This species is characterized by its large, heart-shaped leaves, which resemble elephant ears, and its white fruits. The leaves have striking veins and the fruits turn from green to white when ripe. Ficus albipila is a strangler fig, meaning it often begins life on other trees and eventually encircles and strangles its host tree as it develops. Ficus albipila is well adapted to tropical climates. It plays an important ecological role as a food source for various animals, including birds and mammals, that feed on its fruits. The tree's dense foliage also provides habitat and shelter for wildlife. The Gaint Bee tree is located on the Wa River in Wiang Sa District, Nan Province. Well, not really, but it's looks like one?, It's actually a slice of tree trunk with some naturally stained rings and patterns...

Did you know that one of Canada’s richest ecosystems is also one of its most endangered? Garry oak ecosystems are enchantingly beautiful and high in biodiversity. They are unique to a small part of southwestern British Columbia, where less than 5% of the habitat remains in a near-natural condition.

These spruce trees are very old, they are small because of the poor growing conditions on the bog.

It is also referred to as Bog Spruce, Swamp Spruce, and Shortleaf Black Spruce. Black Spruce is the provincial tree of Newfoundland. It is a member of the pine family.

Black Spruce occupies the wettest sites, such as boreal bogs, and co-mingles with Tamaracks.

In wetland areas, especially on bog sites of low fertility, Black Spruce can remain stunted for decades. Trees on the borders of a wetland area tend to be taller, while those in the center may be only five or ten feet tall.
