the eagle doesn't get along too well with the osprey...this shot was taken during a hot discussion session...
Old South Carolinian oak trees, complete with ferns and Spanish moss on the branches. These are really beautiful in person. Detail is best seen large. I also took a couple of photos of a whole road with these on both sides, but they weren't as good as this shot. I think I'll try to clone out that car soon too.

since their return at the beginning of April... ospreys have been hanging out singly and in groups on my old oak tree... and it's amazing to suddenly see them drop from a height of about 60 feet from the oak branch right into the river and come out with a fish hanging on to their claws... if I am watching I see this happen at least 8-10 times a day...now my oak tree has become even more of a hang out for the ospreys as they have the opportunity to watch the young goslings at the edge of my property which adjoins my neighbors...

The Arc De Triomphe is probably one of the most recognizable monuments in all of Paris. People flock to catch a glimpse of it or to take their coveted travel photos in front it. It's definitely a hot spot in the city. For this photo I wanted to capture the atmosphere, or maybe more appropriately the frenzy of people and traffic that it attracts on a nightly basis. I stood in the middle of the street on a medium and took shot after shot of the traffic until I had just the perfect mix of lights and blur.

Sadly this old gnarled oak tree succumbed to a gale and fell over some time after this photo was taken. Shame! Luckily I wasn't standing by it at the time.

Das Warten hat sich gelohnt - eine halbe Stunde, nachdem die Sonne hinter dem Hügel untergegangen war, färbten sich die Wolken immer intersiver.
Im Hintergrund blickt man auf das kleine Dorf Berkenbaum
Old Oak, right, stands out as the only large oak tree of its type in Joshua Tree National Park in California, U.S.A., as seen through an infrared, black and white converted camera. How it got there and thrived is a mystery. (Dec. 25, 2023)

6005 King George II arrives at Birminghams old Snow Hill station on a dull 1st March 1963. The train is Paddington bound and there are a number of smartly clad passengers waiting for it, of note are the station totems with the name contained within a circular totem.
6005 was new in July 1927 and was a long-standing 81A Old Oak Common engine being withdrawn from there 11/1962.

*This is a very grainy 35mm neg, this is the best it will do.
This is the headwaters of the San Marcos River in San Marcos, Texas, USA.
I will write more about this location in future posts, but it is a very unique area of Texas thanks to the Edwards Aquafer and the limestone formations.
Human history is long in this location. The area near the springs (only 1/4 mile away from this photo) has been inhabited for over 12,000 years continuously. It is one of the oldest, if not oldest, continuously inhabited geographic locations in the northern hemisphere.
