My wife and i walk past these old Oak Trees, at least 3 x a week with the dogs, always stopping to admire there presence and grand stature .... the little disused church is in the field adjacent to these old oaks, my wife and i often sit and rest a while here to gather our thoughts ... a very special place .......
It is December 2020. It is calm and cold. Fresh snow has fallen. You are out with your camera and the tripod. You walk through the snowy grass and then you see a fine oak tree. Some leaves are remaining. The branches have a fine winter coating.

Two cannons and an old oak at Rød Manor - Halden - Norway
At the lowest end of the gardens is a cannon battery, which was regularly used to welcome visitors in the old days
HISTORY:
Rød manor is one of the finest and best preserved manors in Norway, with restored buildings, a baroque garden and a small English landscape park. Many of the shrubs and trees here are uncommon in Norway.
This is firstly because much of the very fertile soil came from England and was dumped here after being ballast in sailing ships, and secondly because of the sheltered setting.
There are over thirty types of rose, a market garden, a linden grove, greenhouses, and many types of deciduous tree, such as oak and beech.
By the large beeches there is a record of the last visit of Prince Christian August in 1810-his monogram is carved into a rock face

It’s spooky in the woods when there’s a thick fog and your imagination can run wild...

This oak tree must have seen so much over the centuries. I walk past it all year round, such an impressive sight.
I recently discovered a small wood of old oak trees on the outskirts of Dartmoor.
It’s not the well known Wistmans or the copse in the valley.
I’ve been waiting for misty/foggy atmospheric conditions for quite a while. The start of the autumnal tones of the dense ferns looked amazing with the morning dew in early September.
Somewhere years ago, a house stood here. I never took a photo.
I should have it was far more interesting than this shed.

A coastal oak tree in a protected reserve in San Diego County, California. HDR image with a glow effect for an ethereal feel. (reprocessed without watermarks and framing).

Just to wind up this series of pics from St. Peter's, here re-hashes of a couple that I took on my first visit, way back in July 2009. As my wife would put it, these were taken with a "real camera", an Eos 5DII, in fact. And a tripod, to boot! Halcyon days!
A lovely place to sit and watch the swallows dipping and diving around the garden. We also saw robins, heard cuckoos in the woods behind, saw a lot of dragon flies and also birds of prey in the distance. In the autumn young deer come into the garden to steal fallen fruit.
As you can tell we were totally smitten with the gite and the location.
Looking for another view of the castle. The mist descended quickly into the valley so I didn't have much time to work with this composition. A minute later and the softness that held the morning light so well had gone. C-pol filter used.
