I love this old oak at Rydal Water. It's been there so many years spreading down over the lake, let's hope these floods haven't finished it off .

we have sat painting the other side of this tree and My husband scared the life out of me forever more by calling me and showing me a bat that had landed on his leg!! They are small river bats , but EVEN SO!

He thinks it was young one that hadn't got its radar sorted!

it was a big breakfast for the juvenile osprey... I can almost see the shape of the fish in his bulging stomach...he should have left some for the little fox...:) my neighbors here are indifferent to wildlife except one which is 2 doors down... on whose pier the goose was nesting... he feeds the ducks... the neighbors on both sides are not so close to my house, as there are tree barriers between, and they don't live here all the time... it is a summer home for them... as it gets a bit stormy and very cold in winter, they don't want to be here to rough it .. it is a developed area, but still secluded, which gives me the privacy... so the wild life love the friendly habitat and environment... .leftovers from one critter are used by other creatures...
