For many years this old wharf has been used to service smaller cargo ships finding safe harbour at Stanley in the shelter of The Nut. It may even have been used by the SS Marrawah in the 1920s. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/52734976941/in/dateposted/

A rather unimposing shot of this landmark, Old Rag is part of Shenandoah National Park. it is the most hiked mountain in the Eastern United States. Since Covid, crowds have overwhelmed the trail to the point where you must now apply for a ticket to climb on a specified date.
A couple old retired fishing boats found along the Homer Spit.
Another unique trawler in comments, used as a home, year around. Brrrr.....winters can be long in Alaska.

Believed to have been built in 1401 the Old Smuggler’s Cafe, once known as ‘Old Ship Launch Inn’, lived up to it’s namesake.
In a time where smuggling was rife, due to heavy tax on goods and excise, smugglers would cross the quiet moors in the dead of night to haul their goods. They would pull a cart that was filled with kegs full of alcohol, at the end of the cart would be a lone keg with a quill in it. When the smugglers were unlucky enough to come across someone, to bribe their silence they would offer them a free sample, and then be on with their way. When the keg was at it’s destination the quill would be removed, and the keg sealed ready for use
