Back in May, I deliberately left this cut red onion out on the counter because it got more interesting looking from day to day
I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but it does work perfectly for Smile On Saturday "Observe the O..." theme for November 23, 2024. -- May 4, 2024
On the sunny shores of CefalĂą, an old grumpy rock named Grumblestone resides, and he is notorious for his cantankerous nature. Tourists would flock to hear his salty complaints about the noisy seagulls, the splashing waves, and even the daring beachgoers.
So, if you ever find yourself in Cefalù, don't forget to pay a visit to the grumpiest rock on the seashore. Just be prepared for a scathing remark or two – after all, Grumblestone's grumpiness is as much a part of Cefalù's charm as its breathtaking views and delicious cannoli!

I saw this "old" very well maintained motorcycle parked under a staircase at an hotel I had lunch at, while I was traveling through Lednice in South Morovia, Czech Republic

I have photographed this old bridge over the River Avon before, but each time I learn something new about it's history. It was built in 1440 and rebuilt in 1728 from sandstone and has 'cut waters' built into the top, these are niches on either side for pedestrians to stand safely in while traffic passes-with todays traffic I certainly needed them when I crossed over, with camera and tripod aloft to avoid scratching then in the wall!
The importance of the bridge was demonstrated when the Home Guard constructed considerable defences here during World War II. The bridge is scheduled an ancient monument, and is grade ii listed.
Old Ruskin Church was originally a Methodist church that served the community of Ruskin and is thought to have been built about 1895. While this church is all that remains of that once thriving community, the church itself is well cared for and preserved for future generations. Old Ruskin has a "sister" church nearby names Ezekiel New Congregational Methodist that was struck by lightning and has since fallen into disrepair. I'll post photos of it soon.

I got up this morning and found the garden bathed in sunlight! It all looks so lovely - full of colour! I have done almost no gardening so far this year, and it looks better for it - though I suspect I will pay for it later!
This ornament goes back to my childhood years.

A photo taken at the rocky south end of Sand Beach in Acadia National Park, Maine. The small island in the distance is called 'Old Soaker'. Along with the two headlands that surround it, they help to protect the sand on Sand Beach from the heavy waves of the Atlantic.
The seas and Newport Cove were calm when we arrived and there were only a few other tourists at the beach. It was nice to take in the rugged beauty here in the early morning solitude.
