I've had these Capezios since about 1983, they have had holes in the very thin soles since about a month after I got them. But they are very comfortable.
Now I wore them to work for years with the holes, I have some homemade rubber insoles I used for a while to cover the holes. But now I usually don't bother with the insoles.
If you look at my soles, you can see the imprint of the holes embossed in them. Not so visible are the dents in my heels from the nails holding the heels on the shoes.
I'm not even sure what size they are, probably a women's 7 but they aren't even tight.
These are really comfortable, I think I'll start wearing them more this summer.
Old trolleybus traction poles on the railway bridge in Ferry Lane, Tottenham Hale. It looks as if these also supported street lighting lamps. The ends have just been cut off when no longer needed. The nearest also has a shade to stop it being seen from the railway in case of confusion with signals.
Old Model Ford Firetruck for Independence, Kansas Fire Department, at least that is what reads on the door.
Funny how I got this shot. My car broke down yesterday, so we walked my boy to school this morning...right past this old firetruck. Driving, we would have taken a different route, but wanted to stay on the sidewalks.
A combination of 3 diff EV. One at 0EV, one at +1.5EV, and one at -1.5EV. The bracketing seems to generate a much greater range for the HDR program to work with. These 3 EV's were all taken without a tripod and aligned in the program. In the original version, you can see some poor alignment in the top left corner, and to the right of the bumper in front. In large they are not quite so noticable. The one i am adding later was done with a tripod when we went back on foot to pick up my boy, and the result is mega improved.
Boats have served as short distance transportation since early times. Circumstantial evidence, such as the early settlement of Australia over 40,000 years ago, suggests that boats have been used since very ancient times. The earliest boats have been predicted to be logboats The oldest boats to be found by archaeological excavation are logboats from around 7,000-9,000 years ago, though a 7,000 year-old seagoing boat made from reeds and tar has been found in Kuwait.
Being more capacious than carts and wagons, and suitable for both land and grass, boats were used between 4000BCE-3000BCE in Sumer, ancient Egypt and in the Indian Ocean.
Boats played an important part in the commerce between the Indus Valley Civilization and Mesopotamia. Evidence of varying models of boats has also been discovered in various Indus Valley sites.
The accounts of historians Herodotus, Pliny the Elder, and Strabo suggest that boats were being used for commerce and traveling.

An old wooden pier on the Forth. It was taken on a fairly overcast day, so I've increased the exposure in the water and sky to add to the overall contrast and give a fairly abstract image.
Rose Garden Palace is a prominent building and garden in the Narinda quarter of Old Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Rose Garden Palace was created by a Hindu zamindar Hrikesh Das in the late 19th century. Around that time jalsas (parties) held at Baldha Garden were an important part of the social life of the city's wealthier Hindu residents. The story goes that Hrishikesh Das, a zamindar of lower caste background, being insulted on this account by someone at one of the jalsas at Baldha Garden, decided to create his own garden to outshine that of Baldha. Here he staged jalsas of his own. The centerpiece of the garden is an elegant pavilion. However, this was not created as a residence, but rather a setting for entertainment such as musical performances (although subsequent owners did use it as a house). This extravagant lifestyle caused Mr. Das to go bankrupt and he was forced to sell the property.
The building has Corinthian columns and has eight apartments including a central hall on its ground floor. The upper floor has a further five apartments including a large dance hall in the middle. In the front yard, there was a fountain originally, the structure of which still remains. There are several classical marble statues in the garden, although the rose garden that gave the mansion its name does not exist anymore. [WIKIPEDIA]

An HDR shot of an abandoned truck in Belize with a tree growing out of the flatbed. The sign in front reads "This old truck owned and used by the loggers to transport supplies for workers in the late 70's and early 80's"
These old stepping stones had gotten overgrown by Shrimp plants and Ruellias so I got them together for a photo before they are relocated.
