Sanhe is a thousands years old Chinese canal town near the Chaohu lake of Anhui province, just south of the capital Hefei. Sanhe means "Three Rivers" in Chinese, which is due to the location of the town at the intersection of three rivers.

Luosto is a scenic tourist destination located in the heart of Lapland, Finland. It is particularly popular for its beautiful natural environment, with extensive forests, hills and impressive scenery that attracts visitors in both winter and summer. Luosto is located in the middle of the rugged Lapland landscape. In winter, the forests are covered with a thick layer of snow and offer excellent opportunities for activities such as skiing, snowmobile tours and husky rides. The Pyhä-Luosto National Park is known for its spectacular fjells mountains and untouched nature. Snowshoeing, also known as snowshoe trekking, is a winter activity where people wear special snowshoes to walk on deep snow without sinking in. These snowshoes distribute the person's weight over a larger surface area, making it easier to walk on soft snow. In Finnish, snowshoeing is called lumikenkäily. Lumi means snow and kenkä means shoe, so lumikenkäily literally refers to using snowshoes.
Luosto is a well-known tourist destination in Lapland, Finland, situated in the municipality of Sodankylä. It is celebrated for its stunning natural surroundings, winter activities, and the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. In January, daylight hours are very short due to the polar night, a phenomenon occurring in areas above the Arctic Circle, including Lapland. We embarked early in the darkness on our journey to Luosto. The snow here resembles an untouched white carpet, with trees draped in a thick layer of powder snow. Every step disrupts the serene silence of the snowy surroundings; the crunching sound of fresh snow under my hiking boots fills the air. The trees gently bend under the weight of the snow, and nature appears to be in a deep winter slumber. We plan to climb its spectacular fjells (mountains) and explore its pristine wilderness.

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.
Somdet Phra Maha Muni Si Phu Kha Pagoda is a beautiful gem on top of a majestic mountain that lies at the beginning of the enchanting Doi Phu Kha National Park. This small pagoda is in an idyllic location with a beautiful view of the mountain peaks and a well-tended garden. At an altitude of no less than 1700 meters above sea level, the air is characterized by its freshness and clarity, resulting in a pleasant temperature of about 22 degrees Celsius. Staying in the mountains of Nan province offers travelers a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. The view of the majestic mountains in the distance is simply stunning and gives a sense of unprecedented freedom and grandeur.

We are staying at Hotel Scardus in Popova Šapka, high in the Šar Mountains National Park. The village is scattered across the slopes, with chalets, a mosque, and winding roads climbing through the fir trees. In autumn, the forests glow in shades of gold, rust, and deep green — a soft contrast to the rugged peaks above. These images show the open alpine meadows around the village, the rolling ridges, and rocky outcrops that rise like natural viewpoints above the valley. At around 1,780 meters, the mountain atmosphere begins immediately. The higher you walk, the wider the panorama becomes, with layers of mountains fading into blue and grey on the horizon. The region is not only visually impressive but also rich in wildlife. The Šar massif is home to bears, wolves, and lynx, though they are rarely seen. Chamois move gracefully across the steep slopes, while eagles and other birds of prey circle high above the ridges. In the lower forests, woodpeckers can be heard, and occasionally a fox or wild boar slips quietly through the undergrowth. That awareness — that this is not just scenery but a living ecosystem — adds depth to every walk. Here, you are not simply crossing a landscape; you are moving through habitat. And that is what makes Popova Šapka and the Šar Mountains National Park feel truly wild and authentic.

We verblijven in Hotel Scardus in Popova Šapka, hoog in het Šar Mountains National Park. Het dorp ligt verspreid over de hellingen, met chalets, een moskee en kleine wegen die tussen de sparren omhoog kronkelen. The Gergeti Trinity Church, located in Georgia, is situated on a mountain top near the village of Gergeti, near Stepantsminda Kazbegi in the Caucasus region, at an altitude of about 2,170 metres. The first light of dawn in the foreground of the photo enhances the mystical character of the location, while the snow-capped peaks and the dark silhouettes of the church emphasize the dramatic atmosphere of the landscape. This area is popular with hikers and photographers for its breathtaking views and historical value. The impressive snow-capped peaks of Mount Kazbek in the background are illuminated by the golden glow of the rising sun. The Georgian Orthodox church was built in the 14th century and is a beautiful example of medieval Georgian architecture. The church is an important national symbol of Georgia and attracts many pilgrims and tourists every year. Behind the Gergeti Trinity Church lies Kazbek (in Georgian: მყინვარწვერი, Mkinvartsveri), with an altitude of 5,054 meters one of the highest and most famous mountains in Georgia and the Greater Caucasus. Although the mountain is hidden in this photo, Kazbek is known for its impressive presence and mythological significance. Kazbek is an extinct stratovolcano. The name Mkinvartsveri means the Icy Peak in Georgian. The mountain is popular among mountaineers and adventurers. The standard route for the ascent usually starts from Stepantsminda, with the Gergeti Trinity Church serving as the starting point. Kazbek is often covered in snow and ice, which adds to the spectacular and mysterious appearance of the region. On clear days, the summit offers beautiful panoramic views of the Caucasus.

A beautiful New Year’s Day exploring the Burnt River Canyon and watching wildlife between Durkee and Unity in Baker County Oregon with lots of Bighorn Sheep out to help us ring in the new year.
The Burnt River Canyon near Durkee is always one of our favorite drives for taking in the majestic scenery of Eastern Oregon and watching wildlife along the way. Saw lots of wildlife this trip as colder temperatures have pushed lots of deer down into the canyon. We were excited to spot a few Bighorn Sheep in rut during this trip

There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.

De provincie Nan is gelegen in het noorden van Thailand en grenst aan Laos. Het is één van de minder bekende provincies van Thailand, maar staat bekend om zijn natuurlijke schoonheid, rijke cultuur en oude geschiedenis. Het is een geweldige plek om te bezoeken als je op zoek bent naar avontuur en ontspanning in de natuur. De weg 1256 loopt door de bergen van Nan en biedt een adembenemend uitzicht op de omliggende natuur. Bijna de mooiste weg in Thailand, het uitzicht aan de kant van de weg is erg mooi, als je tijdens het regenseizoen gaat, zal de sfeer erg goed zijn. Je ziet het groen langs de twee kanten van de weg op de bergkam. Op sommige delen zie je het prachtige uitzicht op rijstvelden over de heuvels. Het kan op sommige delen van de weg overwoekerd zijn. Onderweg zijn er verschillende interessante bezienswaardigheden en activiteiten om van te genieten. Het is geweldig om vogels te spotten, te kamperen en te wandelen, en het is onwaarschijnlijk dat je veel andere mensen tegenkomt tijdens het verkennen. Je kunt ook een bezoek brengen aan de Doi Phu Kha National Park, dat bekend staat om zijn prachtige watervallen, weelderige bossen en spectaculaire uitzichten. Heerlijk koel weer het hele jaar door. Daarnaast zijn er ook verschillende bergstammen-dorpen langs de weg, waar je de kans hebt om de lokale cultuur en tradities te ervaren. Het Nationaal Park is ook de thuisbasis van, de hoogste bergtop in de provincie. Het hoogste punt wordt ook wel Doi Phu Kha genoemd op een hoogte van 1.920 meter. Als je vanuit Nan naar Doi Phu Kha National Park reist, zal ik je zeker aanraden om hier een nacht te blijven. Het grootste deel van het jaar is het mooi weer en het uitzicht is verbluffend vroeg in de ochtend. Een natuurpad van matige intensiteit met een grote kaart met de details van de route begint achter het bezoekerscentrum van het Nationaal park en gaat 2 km lang door en eindigt bij een klein dorp. Het mooiste is het uitkijkpunt met een zeer grote 1715 cijfers die de hoogte van het punt weergeeft. Er is ook een camping in de buurt van het gebied. Maar je moet je eigen tent meenemen. Het duurt ongeveer 2 uur om te voltooien. Er is echter zeker wat te klimmen. Draag trekking schoenen voor de wandeling. De moesson is niet de beste tijd om dit te doen, aangezien er veel bloedzuigers en andere reptielen zijn die je misschien niet op prijs stelt.

A beautiful winter day for exploring the winding back roads of the Baker and Keating valleys with spectacular views of the Wallowa and Elk Horn Mountains.
A little early for spring migration still but spotted a few fun birds including lots of Red Tail Hawks, some Horned Larks and a Say's Phoebe.

Kazbek is known for its impressive presence and mythological significance. Kazbek is an extinct stratovolcano. The name Mkinvartsveri means the Icy Peak in Georgian. The mountain is popular among mountaineers and adventurers. The standard route for the ascent usually starts from Stepantsminda, with the Gergeti Trinity Church serving as the starting point. Kazbek is often covered in snow and ice, which adds to the spectacular and mysterious appearance of the region. On clear days, the summit offers beautiful panoramic views of the Caucasus.

Cole Run Falls is a very attractive waterfall in Forbes State Forest in the Laurel Highlands. It can be a little out of the way as it's located on a series of unpaved back roads, however the nice part is that there is only a very short hike to the waterfall from a parking area.
This is my second visit to the waterfall and I couldn't be more pleased with the conditions of water level and lighting. I'm glad I decided last minute to fit it in after a long day of waterfalling around the area. I only spent a short time here as I wanted to catch the last of the sunset in the mountains.
Burano turns even laundry day into a masterpiece! In this colorful Venetian island, clotheslines stretch like tightropes between candy-colored houses, adding charm to every corner. Sunshine, fresh linens, and a breeze—what more do you need?

Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. Spent the day enjoying the arrival of Spring in Baker County Oregon. Wildflowers are starting to bloom and birds are starting to arrive for spring migration. Spotted a few new arrivals including white crowns yellow headed, redwing, and brewer’s blackbirds, and found ourselves under the watchful eye of several Great Horned Owls.

Pull off the highway when passing through almost any small town and you are bound to find something interesting. Just as the national interstate system bypassed innumerable small towns, many state highways and rural roads bypass countless bits of Americana just waiting to be rediscovered.
