The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful waterfalls, lush forests and spectacular views. Wonderfully cool weather all year round. In addition, there are also several hill tribe villages along the way, where you have the chance to experience the local culture and traditions.
Somdet Phra Maha Muni Si Phu Kha Pagoda is a beautiful gem on top of a majestic mountain that lies at the beginning of the enchanting Doi Phu Kha National Park. This small pagoda is in an idyllic location with a beautiful view of the mountain peaks and a well-tended garden. At an altitude of no less than 1700 meters above sea level, the air is characterized by its freshness and clarity, resulting in a pleasant temperature of about 22 degrees Celsius. Staying in the mountains of Nan province offers travelers a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. It is also a great way to experience the local culture and the hospitality of the Thai people. Photo of a view of the banana trees, majestic mountains and scenic plantations surrounding Doi Phu Kha National Park is truly breathtaking. The view of the majestic mountains in the distance is simply stunning and gives a sense of unprecedented freedom and grandeur. Photo of Samantha and Casper.

Big Horn Sheep in Burnt River Canyon in Baker County
A beautiful New Year’s Day exploring the Burnt River Canyon and watching wildlife between Durkee and Unity in Baker County Oregon with lots of Bighorn Sheep out to help us ring in the new year.
The Burnt River Canyon near Durkee is always one of our favorite drives for taking in the majestic scenery of Eastern Oregon and watching wildlife along the way. Along Norway’s scenic Route 17 — known as Kystriksveien — the road clings to the mountainside above the majestic Sjona Fjord. This stretch between Nesna and Mo i Rana offers dramatic views of steep cliffs, snow-patched peaks, and the vast Arctic coastline.
Fun fact: Kystriksveien is considered one of the world’s most beautiful coastal drives, with over 650 kilometers of road weaving through fjords, islands, and mountains, and it includes six ferry crossings."

Thailand is home to several beautiful national parks that showcase the country's diverse natural beauty. The Doi Phu Kha National Park is located near the border between Thailand and Laos. The National Park is also home to the highest mountain peak in the province. The highest point is also called Doi Phu Kha at an altitude of 1,920 meters. If you are traveling to Doi Phu Kha National Park from Nan, I will definitely recommend staying here for a night. Most of the year the weather is nice and the view is stunning early in the morning. A moderate intensity nature trail with a large map detailing the route starts behind the National Park Visitor Center and continues for 2km, ending at a small village. The most beautiful is the viewpoint with a very large 1715 digits representing the height of the point. There is also a campground near the area. But you have to bring your own tent. It takes about 2 hours to complete. However, there is definitely some climbing to do. Please wear trekking boots for the hike. The monsoon is not the best time to do this as there are many leeches and other reptiles that you may not appreciate. Photo of Kanitha, BieJee, Samantha and Casper at an altitude of 1,715 meters.

The hike from Stepantsminda to Gergeti Trinity Church is one of the most beautiful and iconic hikes in Georgia. This route offers breathtaking views of the Caucasus, with the imposing Mount Kazbek (5,054 meters) as a spectacular backdrop. Stepantsminda is a small mountain village that serves as a base for adventurers and hikers. The village is located at an altitude of approximately 1,740 meters. From here the hike starts towards the Gergeti Tower, a viewpoint halfway along the route. From the tower you already have a beautiful view of the valley and Stepantsminda. The tower is part of a network of historical fortifications, typical for the mountainous region of Georgia. In the past, these towers were often owned by local clans and served to protect the community and the surrounding land. After the tower, the trail climbs further through a variety of grasslands and rocky terrain. The climb is fairly steep, but easily doable for hikers with average fitness. After about two hours of walking (approx. 3-4 km) you will reach the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, located at an altitude of 2,170 meters. The church, built in the 14th century, is not only an architectural highlight but also an important spiritual and cultural symbol of Georgia. From here you have a panoramic view of the Caucasus and the impressive Kazbek Glacier. In clear weather it is an ideal place to enjoy the peace and overwhelming nature. Do you want to skip the climb? Then it is possible to drive to the church from Stepantsminda with an 4x4. In the summer months, horse riding tours to the top are also offered. The best time for this hike is from spring to early autumn (May – October), when temperatures are pleasant and nature is in full bloom. In winter the route can be snowy, which makes the hike more challenging but also adds extra beauty to the landscape. The walk to Gergeti Trinity Church is an unforgettable experience that you should not miss when visiting Georgia.
The photo shows Kanitha climbing a steep and rocky path towards the Gergeti Trinity Church in Georgia, with the majestic Mount Kazbek in the background. Along the path, meltwater flows in the form of a small waterfall, making the route extra challenging. The presence of other hikers further ahead shows that this is a popular but challenging route. Kanitha is warmly dressed and determined to make her way up. The rugged surroundings, steep terrain and clear blue sky emphasise the impressive natural beauty of the Caucasus. The combination of the mountainous landscape, the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbek and the narrow, wet paths makes this hike a unique and adventurous experience.

Aerial view of Motsameta Monastery, picturesquely located on the cliff above Ckalcitela river, 6 km northeast of Kutaisi, in Imereti region, western Georgia.
Its name, whose meaning is the "Place of the Martyrs", is related to two Georgian princes, David and Constantine, who organized a rebellion against the occupying Arabs in the 8th century.
When the rebellion failed, they were captured and then they were promised forgiveness in exchange for converting to Islam. None accepted the offer, they were later tortured and killed, and their bodies were thrown into the river. The water turned red and in memory of this event, the river was called Ckalcitela, which means red water. According to the story, the brothers' remains were captured by the lions and taken to the hill, where the Gelati monastery is located. Later, the Orthodox Church of Georgia recognized them as Saints, and in the 11th century, the king Bagrat IV of Georgia constructed the church there.

Thailand is home to several beautiful national parks that showcase the country's diverse natural beauty. The Doi Phu Kha National Park is located near the border between Thailand and Laos. The National Park is also home to the highest mountain peak and beautiful waterfalls. Sapan Waterfall, also known as Mae Charim Waterfall, is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green mountains and lush natural landscapes. The waterfall is located deep in the mountains and is surrounded by lush tropical jungle, making for an enchanting landscape. The waterfall consists of several levels, with water flowing down large rock formations. Each tier of the waterfall offers great views and swimming opportunities. The sound of running water and the fresh mountain air create a serene and tranquil environment where you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty. To reach the waterfall, you must follow a path that winds through the lush jungle. It can be an adventurous journey, but the reward of reaching the waterfall is totally worth it. Along the way, enjoy the region's abundant flora and fauna, including exotic birds and wildlife. If you want to experience the beauty of nature and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Sapan Waterfall in Nan Province, Thailand is a great destination to visit.

There are places in Southeast Asia that don’t need to shout to get your attention—they just need to be felt. Standing at Wat Phra That Khao Noi, watching the massive Golden Buddha look out over the peaceful valley of Nan, is exactly one of those moments.
Northern Thailand has a completely different energy compared to the hustle of the south. Up here, it’s all about culture, serenity, and endless mountain vistas. For me, documentary photography is about capturing these raw, "ungestellt" spaces where the landscape and tradition simply breathe together. Framing this iconic figure against the morning haze reminds me why documenting this region never gets old.
