This is a photograph from the FINISH of the SSE Airticity Dublin Marathon which was held in Dublin City, Ireland on Monday October 27th 2014 at 09:00. This was the 35th year of the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon, which is run through the historic Georgian streets of Dublin, Ireland's largest and capital city. This photograph was taken in Dublin City Center at Mount Street Canal Bridge which is just before the 26 mile mark on Mount Street.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Britcar Endurance Championship - Trophy Category (Race 1 Results FINAL)
The Britcar Endurance Trophy was the First up and it was time to see who could claim that elusive Pole Position and to see if anyone else could challenge the Top Three Drivers Lets see how things turned out.
In First Place was the Pairing Of (Datum Motorsport's Axel Van Nederveen and Adriano Medeiros) in their Ginetta G55A with a Best Lap Time of 52:193 and an Average Speed of 64.75mph. Congratulations Axel and Adriano a Really Fantastic Drive and A Super Victory.
In Second Place was (SVG's Mark Lee) in his Ginetta G56A with a Best Lap Time of 52.086 and an Average Speed of 64.70mph. Amazing Drive Mark Keeping that Ginetta on the Track and Taking Second Place while Nearly Matching the Speed of Axel and Adriano. Well Done.
In Third Place was (Terry Stephens) in his Peugeot 308 with a Best Lap Time of 53.421 and an Average Speed of 64.50mph. Well Fought Terry a Fantastic Finish in Third Place and Staying Ahead by just over 11 seconds to the Pair of Jasver and Bryan in 4th. Amazing Job.

"Crazy John" invited us out to this property a coupla months ago, and we finally took him up on his offer last week. John and his wife, Kay, gave us a tour of their house & property out by Jewel, OR... some fascinating stuff. The yard is full of John's earlier metal works, as well as heaps of scrap metal for new projects. And the house... jam-packed with something like 75+ metal sculptures, some miniature (little muppet/gnome-like metal figures playing music guitars, riding in cars & motorcycles, sitting under crystals & mushrooms), some not so miniature (5-ft-tall pirate ships, patches of metal vines, castles growing impossibly tall beanpole turrets). The house itself is another story... John built the 2nd & 3rd story himself (and apparently clashed with the county building inspector over permits, or the lack thereof)... the 2nd story is accessed via a trapdoor with built-in ladder that pulls down from the ceiling... a step-ladder from the 2nd floor leads up to the 3rd story, a single room with a pointed roof, containing: a large window that looks out onto the river that borders the back of the property, and one giant cushion where John sits & reads. His welding area is a sort of patio deck built next to a huge tree that the house is nestled under... all in all, a pretty magical, fairy-tale house. I could easily see this being in Chris Smith's Home Movie.
You could easily write a book about John's life story... in fact, I wish someone would. He started out in the navy, working on submarines; later, he was involved in massive metal installations in Portland; and now he pretty much works on whatever he pleases (having been declared 'mentally unfit' by the fed gov), making the occasional sculpture sale from the trunk of his car (which he drives around sporting this hood ornament, catching attention wherever he goes, which his wife calls 'going trolling'). Stories include the tale of his 3-wheeled motorcycle slash metal sculpture on wheels, which, according to John, caused so many accidents in the course of the first 4 days that he drove it that he was ticketed by police for driving a 'dangerous eyesore' and ordered not to take it out on the roads anymore.
I'll be posting a few more photos from this adventure, but unfortunately, most of 'em didn't come out... it was too dark in John's house to really capture the sculptures in their 'natural environemnt.' Y'all will just have to pay John a visit yourselves...

This is a photograph from the Clane and Rathcoffey Parishes annual 10KM and 5KM Road Races and Fun Runs which were held in Clane village, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 19th of October at 14:30. This year's event follows on from the very successful staging last year (see link to photographs below). The organisers offer both a 5km and 10km race and the event provides an opportunity for runners, joggers, and walkers of all abilities to take part in the event. The 5KM has a particular emphasis on family entrants. There was a wonderful atmosphere around the Village as both races started and finished on the main street outside the parish hall. The directly out-and-back routes provided an opportunity for a fast time on a good course and made for a great finish line atmosphere as runners, joggers, and walkers crossed the line. Great praise must be extended to the whole organising committee who organised a very efficiently run event. The events provide some runners with an opportunity to have a final race effort session in the week leading up to the Dublin City Marathon.

Overall Race Summary and Logistics
Participants: There were about 200 competitors combined in the two events.
Weather: The weather was very changeable for all of the events. During the 10KM race there was a heavy rain shower around the area of the 6KM mark but this didn't actually fall in the town. There was a strong headwind against competitors in the 10KM on the return part of the course between 6KM and 8KM.
Race Course:
This summary includes information on both the 5KM and 10KM races.
Both races start in the same place - just outside the Race HQ on the main street of the town. The races then proceed north eastwards out the Dublin Road towards Straffan and Celbridge. Just after 400 meters the races take a left up a small local road and proceeds along this road until it takes a tight left hand turn at the end of the lane at Capdoo goo.gl/maps/aPo26 (Google Streetview). The route proceeds until it shortly meets the Clane-Kilcock Road - College Road R407 goo.gl/maps/SGcPa. Both races will divert into Clane Business and Industrial Park goo.gl/maps/EQMf0 . The 5KM turns around and returns on the same route to the finish. However the 10KM race continues (taking a left) back onto College Road. Soon afterwards it passes the famous entrance to Clongowes Wood College on the right the race takes the next left (goo.gl/maps/zUhrJ) and brings runners onto the road known locally as the 'Long Road' (R408 Between Rathcoffey and Prosperous) at this point goo.gl/maps/fHKr2. The race proceeds northward until runners meet the Clane Kilcock Road once again. With the exception of the partial run into the Industrial Estate the race returns to the finish on the main street in Clane via the same route as the outward part of the route.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

Pattaya is a mass with shops who offer all kinds of products, but aside from these, Pattaya also has it's very own Aladdin's cave's which once you visit, trust us, you will come out with far more than you intended buying!
So, there are literally lots of these little caves to explore however the one we are talking about here is located behind Big C along Second Road in the heart of Pattaya. This has to be one of, if not, the biggest one around locally, and has thousands and thousands of products available.
Yes literally everything from screws to cups to ornaments, fishing rods, plates, beds, vendor sales booths, glasses, electrical goods, power and hand tools in fact just about everything, if your were a market trader back home you would be in your glory with so much to buy and sell on.
Now in true Thai tradition the prices they ask are not only reasonable they are damn right inexpensive! Yes some of these products may, well lets just say, struggle to pass the test of time, however, in general you're getting a "billy bargain".
