Highly trained dockworkers recently moved a nearly 331,000-pound diesel-powered generator through JAXPORT’s heavy lift and specialty cargo berth at Blount Island Marine Terminal, the nation’s highest capacity weight-bearing dock. The equipment is valued at approximately $3 million and will be used to generate power for a hospital located in the Florida Panhandle.
The 42.5-foot-long generator arrived at JAXPORT aboard the Spliethoff general cargo vessel Spaarnegracht from Rauma, Finland. Freight forwarder UTC Overseas, Inc., oversaw the move as skilled master riggers with stevedoring company Portus transferred the cargo from the ship to a dockside 8-axel railcar. The use of Blount Island’s on-dock rail facilities provided the most efficient access to the generator’s destination in Tallahassee, Fla.
The heavy lift cargo berth at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal offers up to 1,800 pounds per square foot of load capacity with rail capability up to 78 kips per axle for heavy cargo. JAXPORT also has the highest and widest cargo clearance available for port access by rail on CSX’s national system: 20 feet high and 13 feet wide. The port offers worldwide cargo service, including direct service with Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, South America, the Caribbean and other key markets.

December 27, 2018 - "Rising over 700m above the Jordan Valley, Mount Nebo offers spectacular views of the Promised Land as seen by Moses. On the platform at the summit is a modern sculpture by an Italian artist representing Moses' staff and Jesus' words in John 3: "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up."
Elements of a triple-apse Byzantine basilica were uncovered by archaeologists in the 1930s, and have been incorporated into the structure of the modern church building, known as the Memorial Church of Moses. The modern additions to the church are very simple, consisting of little more than a shelter over the fascinating excavations and ancient mosaic floors.
Just inside the entrance to the left is the excavated Old Baptistery, which has one of the most interesting ancient mosaics in Jordan. The baptistery and the mosaic can be precisely dated to August 531 thanks to a Greek inscription, which also names the three workers who created it and the bishop at the time (Elias).
The Old Baptistery mosaic is in remarkably pristine condition because another one was laid over it just a few decades later in 597. The underlying mosaic remained hidden for nearly 1,400 years until it was discovered in 1976 when the one on top was removed for restoration (it now hangs on a wall).
The mosaic of 531 is a large square divided into four strips of scenes of men and animals, surrounded by a chain-style border. The top two sections depict fierce hunting scenes: a shepherd fighting a lion, a soldier fighting a lioness, and two horseback hunters defeating a bear and wild boar.
The lower scenes are pastoral but with a touch of the exotic: a shepherd watching his goat and sheep graze in the shade of trees; an ostrich on a leash held by a dark-skinned man; and a boy holding the leashes of a zebra and a spotted animal that looks very much like a camel but might be intended to represent a giraffe.
There are more mosaics in the nave and side aisles of the church, including some fragments of the 597 mosaic pavement. The oldest mosaic in the church is a braided cross displayed on the south wall.
Also hanging here are mosaics of animals from the Church of George in Mukhayyat. One of these is from 536 and has an inscription that some believe is the earliest example of Arabic script in Jordan (others argue it is old Aramaic).
In the far right-hand corner of the church is the New Baptistery (597 AD), which was previously a funerary chapel. It includes a small mosaic originally from the threshold bearing the greeting, "Peace to all."
Next to the New Baptistry, a lovely mosaic cross from the original 4th-century church stands on a modern altar in its original location. A photograph of the Pope praying at the same altar is proudly displayed.
Next to the exit door is the Theotokos Chapel, added in the 7th century where three rooms of the monastery previously stood. Its apse has a mosaic of a square object that may be a ciborium (vessel for the Eucharist) or altar canopy, accompanied by bulls and gazelles. Built in 1972, the Cebu Taoist Temple is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Cebu City, Philippines. The temple was built by Cebu's substantial Chinese community. With an elevation of 300 meters above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.
Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple, the Taoist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. Some guide books and travel agencies offer trips to the temple or as a side-trip in a tour around Cebu City. But it is more popular with grade school students. No student who grew up in Cebu City or the neighboring Mandaue City has not gone to the temple in any one of their field trips.

BAPCHULE — There was only one member of St. Peter Mission School community who was unsure about the name of the new Joe Garagiola Learning Center — Joe Garagiola himself.
“Joe fussed about it,” Franciscan Sister Martha Carpenter said. “He said, ‘Nothing is named after me except my oldest son.’”
Garagiola — a former Major League Baseball player who’s known as “Awesome Fox” by the school community — eventually agreed on the condition that “Where every child is a gift” be included in the center’s name.
More than 300 people were on hand for the Nov. 2 blessing of the new facility. Led by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, the community gathered for prayer and thanksgiving.
“This center is a real homerun, Joe,” the bishop said during the blessing ceremony.
St. Peter students joined in thanking Garagiola, singing “This Man is Our Joe” to the melody of Woody Guthrie’s classic “This Land is Your Land.”
But the former ball player wasn’t the only one honored.
“We have never said as often as we should how thankful we are for the Franciscan sisters,” said Fr. Edward Meulmans, a retired priest who serves Native American missions in the diocese.
He said the students pick up the Franciscans’ loving spirit of service when they come to the school. The sisters create an environment that marries prayer with education, he said.
“The learning center, along with the church, will be an important building for us for years to come,” Fr. Meulmans said.
The five-year project replaced the school’s tiny library with the 5,125-square-foot learning center featuring a lab with 30 computers and a 12,000-volume library.

March 2, 2018, “This is not a funeral - this is a celebration of the life of a man who left an impression on everyone he met.” Family, friends and all whom he met in his journey on Earth learned a life lesson from him. His wife Linda Powell and his children, grandchildren and stepchildren will attest that he was also a well-loved man. He was the local Coin Man who could teach you something you didn’t even know that you needed to know. He was retired from the Bristol Police Dept., and he loved his old police car so much that he bought it when the Town sold it, and would drive it in the Homecoming Parade. At the family luncheon held Friday afternoon, the family raised their glasses of his favorite diet Red Pop in a joyful toast of love for him. Just the Facts: Gary R. LOS ANGELES — Last summer’s non-motorized pilot boating program offered 280 opportunities for a rare trip down the Los Angeles River. The coveted tickets sold out in minutes, according to Yasmin Mero-Corona, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps’ Paddle the LA River project coordinator.
This year, two non-profit organizations, LA Conservation Corps and the San Joaquin River Stewardship Program received a permit from the District. They offered 2,000 seats with the same result, sold out in minutes and stand-by lists at capacity.
And interest in expanding the program to other suitable areas is growing.
“We are currently working with the City of Los Angeles, the County Department of Public Works and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority,”
said Lisa Sandoval, realty specialist asset management division. “They would like to expand the non-motorized boating program to the Glendale Narrows area
and we are looking to have a pilot program in place by next summer.”
Mero-Corona emphasized that education is an important component of their program. This year, Wednesdays are designated for non-paid youth trips in
partnership with The River Project. They present a history lesson prior to the kayaking trip and later follow up with the students for a project showcasing what they learned about the river.
“For years, the Los Angeles River through the Sepulveda Basin has been reserved for our efforts in flood risk management,” added Sandoval.
The District’s own work on river ecosystem restoration and studies aim to restore a more natural habitat where appropriate, improve its water quality and enhance recreational benefits, all while maintaining its flood damage reduction capability. We are a fully committed partner to the city’s Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan.

Snow College is a public community college in Ephraim, Utah. It offers certificates and associate degrees in a number of areas, along with bachelor's degrees in music and software engineering and a four-year nursing program. Snow College is operated as part of the Utah System of Higher Education.
Founded in 1888 by local citizens as Sanpete Stake Academy, the school was later renamed Snow Academy to honor Lorenzo Snow and Erastus Snow, cousins who were leaders in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The initial school was built entirely with local donations, including “Sunday Eggs” (the proceeds from the sales of all eggs laid on Sunday). It is one of the oldest junior colleges west of the Mississippi. In 1917, the academy era ended and the school became Snow Normal College. In 1922, officials renamed the school Snow Junior College only to change it one year later to Snow College. The college was transferred from the LDS Church to the State of Utah in 1931.
The college had an enrollment of 5,514 students in the fall of 2018. In addition to the main (82 acres (330,000 m2)) Ephraim campus, Snow College maintains the Snow College Richfield Campus (56 acres (230,000 m2)) in Richfield, Utah.
The Utah State Board of Regents granted permission in 2016 for Snow College to offer a bachelor's degree in software engineering. Snow College, as of 2018-19, offers bachelor's degrees in commercial music and software engineering.

The Horne School of Music has been an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music since 1997 and is also an All Steinway School. Snow hosts a number of music camps held annually. In 2012, the Horne School of Music began offering the first baccalaureate program in the history of the college, a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music.
The theatre arts program at Snow College is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre and is affiliated with the Juilliard Drama Division. It regularly produces five major productions each year as well as a student produced season of Black Box productions and a summer program featuring instructors from the Juilliard Drama Division.
Snow College athletic teams, known as the Badgers, are consistently highly ranked; its football team went undefeated and won the National Junior College Championship in 1985, with the team inducted into the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2010, and finished #2 in 2006. Along with football, Snow College participates in women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, softball, and rodeo.
