Gage started his 1st day of 4th grade today! Seems like yesterday his was getting on the bus to go to kindergarten; boy does time fly!
Great Blue Heron nesting site, right in the middle of a huge off-leash park for dogs. Each year, to minimize disturbance, they rope off the area in attempt to keep dogs and humans away .
Tipping off in Knoxville, Tennessee—home to UT's basketball powerhouse—this fast-paced two-week exchange then took the group to New Orleans, Louisiana for activities related to the Women's NCAA Final Four Championship. Representing every region of the world, the eighteen teenage girls and six female coaches hailed from the Gulf Nations, Liberia, Lithuania, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Venezuela.
During the first leg of the exchange, the teenage girls and female coaches took part in a series of clinics with their American peers as well as sessions on nutrition, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and disability sports. They also visited the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and had a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan after he delivered a keynote on the importance of academics and health. The delegation then went to New Orleans attend NCAA games and take part in community events surrounding the Finals.

Wood Ducks on Horsepen Bayou are notable because they are not particularly common but they are particularly skittish. I have become somewhat adept at identifying them by their butts at great distances. This series is of a group that apparently felt secure in their numerical superiority until I got close enough for them to realize I was bigger than all of them put together.
When my new friend Derek first showed me this nest I couldn’t believe my eyes. One of the most open views of the nest and the adults that I have ever seen. Did I say thanks, Derek?
In the last 24 hours Mr Lucky and Mary have travelled by taxi, plane, and the London Underground. Now they are at King's Cross. When's the next departure from Platform 9¾?
After leaving Kings Canyon and a quick lunch at Kings Creek Station, we headed back toward Alice Springs. This time, instead of the highway, we followed Ernest Giles road- a bumpy, off-road shortcut- to complete our "outback" experience.
