I was lucky enough to win and take home the One-off SDgr Lorina Girl from the Volks 2015 Dolpa Tea Party in LA! The whole event was so much fun but this was the icing on the cake! I'm smitten. This is only a quick photo but I already love her in every single wig I've tried on her!

The scene just coming off the beach at Dadonghai Bay. Hotels, restaurants, condos and palm trees, I hated to leave. We were headed back to the Hawaii hotel which was the building in the distance with the dome on top.

"Fuck Off" är min tolkning till Fotosöndag och tema "Färgstark",

Porträttet på Iggy Pop från Köpenhamn 1977 som ger besökarna det långa fingret är verkligen färgstarkt och fyllt med kraft och karisma, även om bilden är i svartvitt. Med det medelålders paret blir det en bra och lite rolig bild.

"Fuck Off "is my contribution to Photosunday on theme "Colorful".

The strong portrait at Iggy Pop in Kopenhagen 1977 is filled with power and when he gives the finger to the visitors wieving the photo. It is colorful in many ways....even though the photo is black and white.

City of Cullman Mayor Max A. Townson spent Monday enjoying a series of well-deserved receptions, send-offs, well wishes and accolades.

His first public appearance was at 11 am under the roof of the Festhalle Market Platz in downtown Cullman. The occasion was a farewell reception organized by the employees of the City Cullman. Townson steps down as mayor on November 7th after enthusiastically and successfully serving two full terms in office from 2008 to 2016.

Mayor Townson addressed the several hundred in participants just after 11 am. His spirited, positive and touching remarks drew frequent rounds of applause.

A large crowd of governmental, business and community leaders gathered along with many city employees, the mayor’s family and citizens from around the city and county many of whom are featured in the photographic series below shown here.

Townson made sure to include his bride of 47 years Kay Townson, his diverse and intimately supportive family, and his always reliable and trusted City Council members (Jenny Folsom, Andy Page, Johnny Cook, Clint Hollingsworth and Garland Gudger) as major focal points in his speech.

Following the Mayor’s words, Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry presented Townson with a plaque of recognizing the relationship shared by the City of Cullman and the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

Retired United States Air Force Colonel Ken Brown presented Mayor Townson with a large-scale photo of a B-51 Mustang. Brown also awarded the mayor with a personal air flight on board the Mustang when it arrives in Cullman for the Veterans Day celebration on November 4th. The Mayor was at his most animated and excited upon learning that news.

Mayor Townson’s long-time and trusted administrative assistant, Leanne West, presented the mayor an incredibly thick book of new stories, letters, personal notes, photographs and other memorabilia accumulated from the eight years they worked together.

Mayor Townson spent the majority of this epic three-hour reception event on his feet greeting, acknowledging and connecting with everyone who came his way. It was both extremely touching and deeply inspiring to watch the Mayor operate in his most natural public habitat. Even as he exits the mayor’s office, he once again conclusively proved his a man of the people and the embodiment of the Cullman spirit.

After very short break allowing just enough time to spend a few minutes with his family, the Mayor was back off to City Hall to prepare for the City Council Meeting at 7:00 pm.

The historic focal point of last night’s Cullman City Council Meeting at Lucille N. Galin Auditorium inside Cullman City Hall was the public farewell for the iconic, two-term mayor.

It was Townson’s final City Council meeting after tirelessly and enthusiastically serving as the Mayor of the City of Cullman from 2008 to 2016.

Council Pro Tem Jenny Folsom summoned the Mayor to the floor of the auditorium along with all members of the City Council (Councilman Garland Gudger was out of town and could not attend). Ms. Folsom then read this powerful, touching and all inclusive farewell drafted for the occasion by Mayor Townson’s indispensable assistant, Leanne West.

Mayor Townson walked off to a standing ovation from the almost 100 people in attendance.

Mayor Townson’s service to the community has encompassed the best of times and the worst of times for the City of Cullman.

Obviously, there will be more mayoral leaders in Cullman’s future, but there will never be another Max A. Townson.

The Mayor leaves an indelible, positive imprint on the past, present, and future of the city.

They date it as 1967, even though the grafitti gives a 1968 date, but probably added later. We can see that the poster was there before the grafitti, because it is overwritten by it with a couple of strokes.

OMYGOSH.!

I just noticed that my stencil is sprayed here, too.

The writing in an arc, to the right of the poster says,

“ BULLETS SHOT IN AIR COME DOWN SOMEWHERE “.

I made that stencil because the Police were shooting up toward the rooftops on one occasion.

I was never happy with the phrasing, because it should say, bullets shot in the air come down somewhere, but “the” had to be taken out to make it work.

( i remember that some famous songwriter was never happy with the necessity to use the word, “devine”, in one of his song lyrics. haha. )

The rest of the text on the Rolling Stone web page is,

“ In This Article: Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Jim Marshall, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead. “

Jimi Hendrix lived int the City around 1967 and played in the Panhandle.

Chanter, Mark, missed him by ten minutes when he was a teenager.

I never heard about it at all. I started in the Haight and joined the Diggers in 1967, but it must have been after that.

I'm off to just about my favourite place - Greece - so won't be around for a week or so. We've visited many parts of Greece but this time we're going to the little island of Paxos, for the first time.

This isn't a new picture but one taken in Kefalonia a couple of years ago. It won me 2nd place in the holiday company's photo competition. The prize was a Nikon D40 which I sold to part fund my Panasonic G1, earlier this year.

We're of to their first day of school at their new academy! Woo hoo!

The Bubbler in collaboration with the Neighborhood Intervention Program (NIP) and Prof. Faisal Abdu ́Allah present an art exhibition by Madison youth. "Mask Off!" brings together UW-Madison staff, The Bubbler, and teenagers of greater Madison to celebrate identity, alter egos, and human complexity. Based on 15 weeks of workshops with diverse artists, the project emphasizes the multi-vocality and diversity of the youth who are often at the forefront of the nation’s friction. The art, made by the teens, tells stories about the multiple facets of self-imagination versus determination by society. The alter egos that the teens developed reflect upon their adaptation to challenges encountered in their every day lives.

Mariager-Handest Veteranjernbane, 19 Aug 1984

In August and September 1984, I was in Karup, Denmark supporting a NATO exercise with my Air National Guard unit. As we had weekends and every other weekday off, I had the chance to explore the railroads of Jutland.

I rode three Veteranjernbaner or veteran railways in Jutland while I was there. The first two I rode my first weekend in Denmark. I posted the album of the line that runs between Bryrup and Vrads a few days ago. The day I rode it was a cloudy Saturday. The next day was a sunny Sunday and I went out to ride the Mariager Handest line.

As the information I had about the line was in Danish, it is only now that I'm posting these photos that I learned a bit about the history of the route.

Mariager is a town in north eastern Jutland on a fjord. It has a port and to make the port more useful, a private railway was constructed to Mariager as late as 1927. The line ran from Mairager to a crossing of the DSB east Jutland north-south mainline at Farup, between Randers and Hobro and continued west to Viborg, which is near where I was staying at Karup.

The line did not have a lot of traffic and had road competition from the beginning. It was shut down west of Farup in 1965 and passenger service from Farup to Mariager finshed the following year, but it turns out some freight continued to be carried until 1985. The DSB had taken over freight operations when the private line shut down. Although out of service, the line appears to be intact to Farup on Google Maps.

On weekends the Danish Railway Club runs trains to Handest, about 17 km each way and a short distance from the DSB main at Farup. Despite the line having been intact to Farup in 1984, the passenger service did not directly connect with the DSB there and I had to take a bus from Hobro to Mariager.

My route to Hobro was bus from Karup to Herning, train to Arhus via Silkeborg, on a line that I had not yet ridden, then north from Arhus to Hobro.

I checked out a 2-4-0T and 2-6-0T in the railway museum and an old diesel stored outside. Class F 0-6-0T 653, the same class of engine I'd seen in Bryrup the day before, was handling the wooden 4 wheel cars on the steam excursion train. A Triangle railcar was alternating runs with the steam train. I rode the steam train.

The line has some nice views, especially along Mariager Fjord at the beginning and end of the round trip.

After riding the train, I hiked back along the ROW and shot the railcar arriving along the fjord.

The line's website is at mhvj.eu/ It is in Danish, but Chrome will translate

I then seem to have taken a bus back to Hobro and then a train south to Langa, where I connected to the Lyntog Nordjylland, which took me to Viborg, from where I got a bus back to Karup.

I was looking forward to more trips as I still had several weeks in Denmark.
