Ft. Buchanan, PR –The US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico headquarters was the scenario of Lt. Col Norma I. Rivera’s promotion to the rank of Colonel, 18 Nov.
A Humacao, PR resident and a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao Campus, Rivera holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in English as a second language and the other in Nursing.
Rivera has proven to be a dedicated and hard working US Army Reserve officer with a long and distinguished career, the experience of three mobilization assignments and currently managing the Soldier Processing Readiness Center (SRPC) in the Eastern geographical area of Puerto Rico.
“Norma is a hard worker, very professional and dedicated, I’ve never seen somebody as hard working in my life” said brig. Gen. Fernando Fernández, US Army Reserve-Puerto Rico, 1st Mission Support Command (1st MSC) Commanding General.
“Thank You for everything you did for the 1st MSC and best luck in your future assignment” said Fernández.
Rivera initiated her military career at the 65th Regional Support Command, known today as the 1st MSC. At that time, the 65th RSC was commanded by Maj. Gen. Felix Santoni, now retired.
Rivera’s family members, Brig. Gen Fernández and retired Maj. Gen Santoni participated in the emotional promotion ceremony.
During this ceremony Rivera also received a Meritorious Service Medal for her professionalism, knowledge and devotion to duty.

This image is of the international fountain the Seattle Center. This is a favorite subject to KAP of mine, today I found the fountain to be off when I got there. I was tempted not to fly, but did anyway, and I'm glad I did, there were some interesting hard water deposits on the cement which are normally not visible when everything is wet.
Wind conditions, as usual, were tough in this location. The fountain is surrounded by buildings, making it difficult to get enough height for the kite to get into clean air. once there it pulls much harder than it does on the ground, making tuning the kite to both get it in the air and stable at altitude a bit of a trick. Today the winds were strong and I was at the upper end of what I'm comfortable with my Rok.

Horned Puffins taking off to sea on what is officially known as "Duck Island", just off the coast of Chisik Island in the Alaska Peninsula... (Locals call it Puffin Island, and rightfully so... I didn't see one duck the entire time I was there)
I was fortunate enough to take a boat here along with other photographers at Silver Salmon Creek Lodge. Again, the light was poor, but it was a great opportunity to photograph one of my favorite animals.
The strong off shore flow of wind from the high pressure over Nevada along with high waves from an Alaskan storm made for some amazing waves along the California coast. We stopped at Waddell State Beach about 22 miles north west of Santa Cruz to admire the blow back.
This is such a tiny little Bee! If you know anything about Lantana, each of those flowers are smaller then a pencil! BTW...That's not front landing gear, that's his tongue!

Zoals bij veel vogels is de flamingo op z'n mooist tijdens haar vlucht. Met uitgestrekte vleugels zweven ze vlak boven het water en spelen ze met de wind.

Went for a quad ride and mostly it was in the rain. Parts were a little bit scary just because the trail was slick, and we have good tires on the quad. Just trying to dry off and keep warm after the ride.

We woke to low cloud and rain! What a shock to the system. Not a mountain peak or distant island to be seen.
A tasty breakfast of scrambled eggs (so yellow!!) perked us up and donning waterproofs we bid farewell to Zavižan and headed off downhill to the start of the Premuziceva Trail (Premužićeva staza). Built in 1933, the trail takes you through the heart of the Northern Velebit National Park, remote and protected, with beautiful wild flowers every step of the way, and weird and wonderful water carved limestone rocks interspersed with spruce and beech forests. The Croatian National Tourist Board's Premuziceva Trail pages provide an excellent account of the route as well as the history of the trail.
We lunched in Rossi's hut, which looked like it was undergoing a spot of renovation, but at least it provided shelter from the rain. The afternoon leg of the trail included some steep descents and stretches through forests and long grass alpine meadows, eventually bringing us to the Alan mountain hut.
After changing out of wet boots (this was the day I decided my new Merrell Outbounds were Definitely Going Back), we met our new minibus and driver who ferried us down the switchback road leaving the Velebit mountains behind us and continuing south along the Jadranska magistrala coast road to Karlobag.
After checking in at the Hotel Zagreb, and luxuriating in the power showers of our newly refurbished block, Lina, Hazel, Cat and I headed off to explore Karlobag and - most importantly - to find coffee and cake, which we did with great success. We returned to the old town/village for dinner, in a lovely restaurant tucked away on a first floor terrace overlooking a courtyard. Everyone ate well, and we could hardly refuse the buy-one-get-one-free offer on the litre carafes of local white wine...

Because I only had one full day in New York I took back to back Hop On Hop Off Buses. Some of the images are not very good as the bus would go over bumps etc,.I have kept them in as memorises of the day. I only got off the bus once so most of the photos were taken as we were travelling along. Sadly I just didn't have time to have a good walk around.
I woke to a lovely sunny day and not too cold with around 16c. As the day went on it clouded over a bit and cooled down. November 7, 2018 USA.
I was lucky enough to win and take home the One-off SDgr Lorina Girl from the Volks 2015 Dolpa Tea Party in LA! The whole event was so much fun but this was the icing on the cake! I'm smitten. This is only a quick photo but I already love her in every single wig I've tried on her!
The scene just coming off the beach at Dadonghai Bay. Hotels, restaurants, condos and palm trees, I hated to leave. We were headed back to the Hawaii hotel which was the building in the distance with the dome on top.

Daniel was lit from the side, while sitting in shadows, plus a small flash to highlight the graffiti behind him.
This was part of Brent Pearson's Off camera flash photography course... what a great course... This certainly was en exploration into a new area of photography for me.. I had never tried flash work with models before... something to try again, now that I have some idea of what can be achieved.
