DSC_2887: Indian Mountain Road outside Moncton this evening. I think this is a type of Sparrow -- need to confirm.
This male baya weaver was showing off his nest. It was surprising to see all males building the nest relentlessly and female enjoying the weather :).
It was a treat to find around 15-20 nests with almsot same number of birds near my parents home. I spent lot of time shooting these birds inspite if the fact that it was heavily overcast. Did got some good shots and that made it worthwhile. Will post a few more from that lot in coming days.

At last after almost end of the three months of this year, I have some pictures to share. :) I was waiting with few of my friends at Naf River. These two local kids started their day off like this.
Even though Otagi Nenbutsu Ji is supposed to be the resting place of over a thousand rakans of different shape and size, not all of them look "pure".
Not to worry, I looked it up, there is no representation of mischief or evil at this shrine. But for some reason, this particular statue rubbed me the wrong way. It's scowling face, it's fangs, it's large chin and nose, it looked a bit more like an oni then a rakan.
So I knew this was perfect for a subject shot, it was largely standing by it's lonesome, making it easy to isolate it's focus in editing. There was a straggler in the back that I decided to keep clear to balance out the aesthetic.
It looks like it's trying to escape, like it's stuck in the ground. It looks like it wants to eat me. I like it.
A very small proportion of the up to quarter of a million starlings taking off at dawn from their overnight roost in the Somerset Levels. Not only is it an amazing sight to see so many birds overhead, the sound they make as all those wings beat the air as they take off is wonderful. Well worth getting up before 6am on a freezing December morning to experience!

My feelings for this photo keep going back and forth, I was caught off-guard by this Killdeer's sudden take off (If my memory serves me, it was to chase off a rival), and I underexposed the image as well as clipped the wings in an awkward spot, making it hard to make it look intentional. Anyways, after deliberately searching for this image on my old computer, I edited it a little (Toned down the highlights and tried to bring light into the shadows) and posted it here.

I'm off for a few days to enjoy my Christmas with my family and friends.
Best wishes to all my Flickr friends for Happy, Healthy and a safe Holiday Season and may your New Year be filled with the same.
See you when I retun on the 5th - I will try and comment if I have time between the celebrations.
My first look at Sandhill Cranes was somewhat frustrating as the birds were quite distant and most of the take offs were in very poor light. These two hung around after the flock had departed and while still distant, the light came around nicely.

Mi ero spinta sin dove finiva la bancbina, mentre attendevo il mio treno.
Tranquilli, volevo solo scattare una foto. Mi ha sempre affascinato il groviglio dei binari, il loro incontrarsi e dividersi in un gioco senza fine
After finishing it`s work for the day, this Claas Lexion 780 'Terra trac' Combine Harvester follows it`s tracks back home through this wheat field at Milton Malsor, Northamptonshire. It roat attachments have been removed, and are being taken back on a special trailer which is towed, in this case, by a tractor.

If I hadn't filled up a card and drained a battery I would have still been out there shooting these adorable Burrowing Owls. This particular shot with all the expressions spoke volumnes to me and I couldn't help laughing when I saw it. I hope you see it too...:)
