ODT - Flower/Flowers

Thank you in advance for your views, comments, and faves. They are much appreciated!

This good luck pendant was given to my wife, Sammy, in 1940 by her aunt in Stuttgart, Germany, during their harrowing escape from Estonia, which had been taken over by the Communists (her father was a diplomat from that country, and if he hadn't escaped, he'd have certainly been sent to Siberia) . Five years ago, she uncovered it and has been wearing it constantly ever since.

Without question, this pendant has been the most frustrating object I have ever tried to photograph, and I've tried on several occasions. This image makes it look like it went through WWII on the treads of a Sherman tank, and yet, in reality, there are no scratches or blemishes on it. There is also no division of color around the edges. It is a smooth, like-new gold pendant, and this is really a horrible representation of it. I took a number of shots of it and lit it from several different angles, which resulted in glare in various locations on the pendant, which I got rid of by layering one image on top of the other and erasing away the offending glare from the top layer. But the scratches and the harsh transition around the edges are frustrating, to say the least. I'm sure if I had a light box and some means of softer lighting, the results would have been better, but there are still those non-existent scratches and that color separation that appears in every image I've ever taken.

To get the background I wanted for the shot of the dry amaryllis flowers I put the stalk into an empty milk bottle, on top of the plate cover for the microwave, on top of the microwave, which sits on the counter.

What are you up to my darling? Downloading some music or hacking into my bank account?

She is in shadow and her hands and gadget just entering the sun light. I think it has a sinister appeal.

Please select one to six favorites. Thanks loads! (Some of you have already done this when I had the frog photo above.)

This is a re-take of a shot I took many years ago. The one at the beginning of my stream was pre digital and scanned into the stream. I wanted to re do it with a digital camera. it is pretty close to the original.

Step back to an era of simpler times in this Provincially Registered Historical Home originally built in 1878 by Thomas H. Pope. Six years later he sold his home to the local Methodist church for use as its parsonage. Lucy Maud Montgomery was only 19 when she came here in 1894-95, to board with the Reverend John F. and Mrs. Ada Estey, while in her first teaching position at Bideford No. 6 School.

We were delighted to find this beautiful old house, now being operated as a museum. Better still was the fact that we were given a tour of the house by the curator, Shelly Campbell. The story of how this property was saved and restored is a testament to the dedication of this lady and the West County Historical Society members. If you visit PEI, this is a great place to spend an hour or so. The property is beautiful and the people there are both knowledgeable and generous.

P.S. anybody know whats up with this picasso buisness that replaced picnic?? I'd love some feedback

This veggie dish, along with a dip I concocted by mixing ranch dressing with vinegar, is how I start every evening meal. Of course, then it's all meat 'n' taters, but at least I get off to a healthy start, even if it's all down hill from there. This is the first time I've added tomatoes to the dish, and once I did, it suddenly became quite photogenic, almost too pretty to eat.
