This image has been sitting in my Flickr folder for some time now while I stewed about whether to post it or not. Finally I figured, what the heck, everyone needs a good chuckle once in a while. The golden brew gurgling down my throat was hard earned and well deserved. That blade sticking up next to my knee and which is attached to that long wooden handle is a scythe, which, for the benefit of the urban dwellers in Flickrville, is used for reaping the harvest, or in this case, cutting the hay in places my son couldn’t get to with the tractor mower. Though I definitely don’t tend towards masochism, for whatever reason, I loved working with the scythe, just setting up a wide, sweeping rhythm as I worked my way through the tall grass. However, on this hot, humid, New England summer day some years ago, I darn near worked my way into the grave, but was happily revived by that golden brew. The photo was taken by my wife, Sammy.

I found this dahlia today lying at the edge of one of the neighborhood gardens - stem broken - so I rescued it and gave it a home for the next few days while it is still in bloom.

ODT SPIN

Explore #148

The first thing I thought of was spinning a record. I guess my age is showing! It will really be showing when I tell you that the record on the turntable is one from The Ink Spots. If you don't know them, you are likely younger than 55. 8^)

Here is a music video of one of their biggest hits. A bit stilted by today's standards, but considering it is likely put together about 70 years ago, it stands up pretty well!
