I shot this photo because it is a very odd thing to come across. This is a portrait of an owl standing on a fence. I thought this owl had a lot of character with its missing eye and raggedy feathers. I really like the Balance of the colors in the background compared to the foreground, for example the light blue and the dark shadows. Also there is a white band on the top that is very symmetrical to the bray band (fence bar) on the bottom. This picture was taken next door to the Tana Market out side of an unidentifiable building. 6-story Anglo-Italianate office building completed in 1848 as a 4-story structure. Designed by Trench & Snook for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, one of the many mutual aid societies and fraternal organizations formed in New York in the 19th century, this was the first such building specifically built for the group. The organization was founded in Manchester, England in 1812. By 1819, they were present in the United States, with their first hall dedicated in Baltimore in 1831.
Standing as frozen and watching the statue for minutes. I saw this odd fellow and I was wondering what he was thinking about. He was staring, imperturbable, physically absent. Possibly he had some memories, triggered by the holy ornament, of long forgotten experiences. His expression didn’t give a clue whether he was scared, impressed or just enjoying. But what he caused, at least for me watching him watching, was the time being paused. Thank you, odd fellow.
The second Odd Thomas novel by Dean Koontz. A great character and a great story. You don't have to have read the first one, but it helps.
We found this odd fish rolling around under the mangroves (not swimming mind you, he's too chubby... he was just rolling along in the water). We picked him up with our paddles for the photo... and then I promptly focused behind him. Whatever. He was cute anyway. Not something you see every day.

Jack's preschool graduation.
First, this little girl was sitting alone while the rest of the kids lined up to march in, then she didn't sit down the whole rest of the time.
