I saw this person at Starbucks today. In spite of standing only inches away, I could not tell his/her gender. I am haunted by this gender-bending Bob Dylan/Roy Orbison lookalike.

This feels like going back in time to a whole different world. Mushroom season seems an eternity ago, LOL - and an even greater eternity till it starts up again! These tiny mushrooms were growing on the end of a piece of bark on a fallen log at the Perrenoud Natural Area, on September 24th.
This house has a CLOCK in its tower!
I never knew about this house until last year, when I found it while scouting out a yard sale. It's up on the hill on a dead-end street behind an old school. The other houses around it.. are nothing like this. It's a very odd house, and a weird location for it, too! I think it's lovely.. someone has been working on it since at least last year.

Odd in that one expects more from the bloom but this is all. Rugels Ragwort is said to be found only in the spruce-fir elevations of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
So the round bowl shape isn't too odd, as I've seen this sort of thing before in limestone around here, but they are usually deeper, if not right through, and more perfect, like it was drilled. I was told this naturally happens over a long period of time from water acting like a drill. Now the odd bit was the sound of this rock. I picked it up and realized that it sounded like metal. I tapped it on a rock in amazement. Ping! A lot of the rocks from the stream sounded like this, they also seemed more brittle than the average limestone around here, as if they had been hardened by heat or something. I attempted to make an xylophone out of them a little later on, but only found 3 good notes (and a fourth that was a sharp) before I headed home. I'll have to go back and record a song played on a rock xylophone.
Ozzy was sleeping in this odd sleeping position. It was even funnier when I was sitting in the chair with him. His eyes were closed, his face was pointing up, and his teeth were showing more. His eyes are opened here, but he is asleep. LOL!
