I took this picture among several in a series with a male Cicindela denverensis attempting to mate with a female Cicindela formosa. While the female did not seem to like the idea, he was reluctant to detatch. Being that she could not fly until he did, I was able to follow them around closely for a bit, even manipulating her movements.
The female C. formosa made some interesting attempts to dislodge the male C. denverensis. She tried rolling over and shaking him off a couple of times, but to no avail. Cooking him off what not an option as it was only in the 50s and the sun was intermittent. The coolest thing she tried was closelining him on a dead twig at just the right height, but she only got stuck. This male was determined....but he made a poor choice.

At 2400 ft (730m) this is the highest elevation palm tree between Sacramento and Reno. **
He lives here unattended next to a Transcontinental Railroad siding with his friends Mr. Pine, Mr. Rock, Mr. Propane Tank and Mr. Dumpster.
Colfax, CA, USA.
(** That I know of. I'd be glad to learn of another higher up and get a shot of that one too.)
This is my wife's sister and her husband. the odd thing is, it's usually her opening her mouth to reveal what she's eating when I point the camera at her. I guess after all these years she's rubbed off on him.
Odd in that one expects more from the bloom but this is all. Rugels Ragwort is said to be found only in the spruce-fir elevations of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Shyla was obsessed with scents from the part of the forest that bears frequent. It turned out that her signals were correct. My trail camera recently captured its first black bear photo of the year in that area!
Taken in Prescott, Arizona in Aker Park.

This Kennel has an odd collection of statues props, trains, what have you. I think I have seen this in a movie before.
