The new travel hub down by the business district. Unfortunately, we didn't go inside to the stunning interior. Truth to say, at this point we were overcome with the fountains which marked the fallen towers and weren't as exploratory as usual. Still, what a wild design!
The interior of the dome was possibly intended to symbolize the arched vault of the heavens. The oculus at the dome's apex and the entry door are the only natural sources of light in the interior. Throughout the day, the light from the oculus moves around this space in a reverse sundial effect. The oculus also serves as a cooling and ventilation method. During storms, a drainage system below the floor handles the rain that falls through the oculus.

Within the Waldo Library, as you walk in, it is close to a dome like building structure, this is where if you look up you will see the oculus at the top. The oculus, although I'm not completely sure if it is seen as an oculus brings in light to the front entrance of the library. This interested me because it is so large and I'm not sure if it is considered an oculus.
