One of a series of photos of the same scene I doing throughout 2017. The observant among you will notice this is a morning shot rather than my more usual afternoon shot as I wanted to capture the sunlight on the changing trees.
With the bypass under construction behind me, and fenced off, the farmer has now replanted this half of the field.

I spent 20 minutes [1] sat outside in the cold waiting for the local blue tits to make an appearance or even the sparrow hawk that occasionally passes through but the only bird that stopped within reach [2] was this blackbird ... so blackbird it is!
[1] Yes I am aware how laughable 20 minutes is in the pursuit of wildlife photographs but I had a lunch date with a 4 year old ... scupper that at your peril!!!
[2] And that was a considerable reach as well: 500mm + 2x teleconverter + crop sensor = 1500mm in 35mm terms.

A trip to Beamish had to produce loads of images that were contenders for my project ... surely ...
... apparently not. I'm beginning to realise (or perhaps finally accept) that I struggle to photograph scenes and I'm much better at setting up contrived compositions.

Today's is "Modern" from Otterdoesartwrk's Witchtober.
Something cute, friendly, and clean today. I thought I needed some nice crisp lines after all that sketchy nonsense I've been doing.

Today is "Work" from Twitter artist rustanix's Ghibli themed list.
Instead of drawing an existing character I borrowed their style and created an OC inspired by their stories.

Shot taken for the Photo-a-day-for-a-month Group . This is my photo for 4th October.
Today my boys are nine years old so todays photo was always going to be about them, as it was last year. They are Persian brothers and Sammy on the left, the lighter one is a Tabby, and Barney is a Red Tabby. It's almost impossible to get a photo of them together, so this shot was planned around dinner time. Daddy is out of frame on the right calling "come and get your fishy fishy" which is their favourite treat (well Barney's anyway - Sammy prefers Dreamies).
Today (4th October) it is customary for Catholic and Anglican churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals, as this is also the feast day of Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, so a fitting day for Sammy & Barney to have their birthday.

Visiting family I needed to grab something quite quickly today and tomorrow so I kept my eyes open whilst wandering around their house and decided that this candle holder would be a good candidate.
With more time I would have paid more attention to the background to get an even black background but other than that I'm pretty happy with this for 5 minutes of effort.

Floss, our Jack Russell terrier, has been feeling a bit left out with all the photos I've been taking of the spaniel recently...even when I offered to feature her in the Challenge it was all she could do to look at the camera!

In short, here is a cute Axoltl chilling in a cactus mug.
I managed to get out of work earlier than usual today, but my short walk wasn't very fruitful. This is the best I managed to do today.

Halloween is here... which signals the last day of the October Photo Challenge.... pleased to say that I have managed all 31 days like last year. But not one shot in Explore... I had several in 2011. Ah well, there's always 2013! View On Black

I didn't manage to upload any pix for the October challenge yesterday. I had to fail on the 15th of the month! I might try to upload two today, just to compensate for that.
