I reckon my cats were always going to feature somewhere in my project ... it was just a case of which one on which day.
So today I had my first attempt and first off I got a shot of Jasper that I liked then much later I got one I liked of Millie as well and suddenly I was in a quandry. There was only one solution ...
Both of these shots were taken with an SB-900 mounted on a tripod with a small Interfit softbox fitted and fired via my trusty PocketWizards. Exposure was manual at 1/250 @ f/3.0 for both and the flash also set to manual at 1/16. The flash was high for both and camera left for Jasper (pretty much where he's looking although I think he's looking at the tripod rather than the flash) and camera right for Millie.
I normally use TTL for photographing anything other than still lifes but if I take that approach with the cats then Millie blinks before the shutter opens so I resort to manual and hope for the best .. it generally seems to work well.

This is the view from my office. Let's see how many variants of this I will have to take this month :-)
On a Thursday morning I do some voluntary work with young adults with learning and / or physical disabilities. They are getting ready for Halloween and this is one of the carved pumpkins that had been made earlier in the week.

October Challenge of the group Cherry on Top! - sweet childhood
On a day like today, I don't think even the keenest of photographers would have ventured out. So I attempted a water droplet kind of abstract picture. Handheld on purpose for funny shapes!
