I was out shooting portraits in Brighton and trying out my location light and gridded Octabox when I heard someone call my name and spotted a couple whose daughters wedding I photographed in Derbyshire last year!

They were telling me what a cool place Brighton was and how great The Lanes were for seeing wonderful people so I setup the light in a side street opposite the pub where we had been talking.

Sadly the side street was full of litter bins and made a 'trashy' ;-) backdrop so I opted to use the wall of a building.

I went off to see who I would meet leaving my iPhone on the ground playing the tunes through my speaker to create a party in the alley and leaving Colin to guard the gear.

I stood around soaking up the street performers and general vibe when I spotted this guy walk past with a friend - the cut and material of his jacket along with the cool hair caught my attention. I turned to make an approach and he disappeared into a music shop.

I waited an age for him to reappear and explained what I wanted to do and he just looked at me and said "Let's do it!"

So we did.

I liked the off camera look as he gazed up into the softbox which is why I went for the shot. It was a brief encounter and he was off.

Thanks for your help Bucky and I hope you like the image!

Today I interrupt our trip to Vendée to upload three more recent tabletop photos.

This one is a shot I took for a theme-based group. The theme was, obviously, “Travel”.

Composite shot made of 7 focus–stacked exposures, set using the built–in function in the camera. Stack processed with Helicon Focus, Method B.

Strobist and technical: one Phottix Pro Indra500 monolight on a Profoto light stand in Rembrandt position to camera left, 1.5 meters from subject and 1.5 meters above it, firing at 1/16 power through a Phottix Pro 110–cm Luna Octabox softbox with double diffuser; and another Indra500 studio strobe on a Profoto light stand in lateral (slightly backlit) position to camera right, 1.5 meters from subject and at about the same height, firing at 1/16 power through a Phottix Pro 80–cm Raja Deep softbox with double diffuser. Additionally, one Mitros Pro cobra flash on a Profoto tabletop light stand to camera right, firing at 1/8 power through an Andoer gridded snoot, level with the tabletop and aimed at the Photographing the Dolomites book and at the Silva compass.

Strobes set and triggered via Phottix Pro Odin II radio controller on the Nikon Z7 II hot shoe, manual mode. Sekonic L–858D light meter used to balance light sources. Gitzo GT2530 tripod with Arca-Swiss Cube C1 geared head. Nikon Z7 II camera body, Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S lens.

^^^ You really gotta view large ^^^

I spent the afternoon with solo artist Cameron Walker

He's making some great strides with his music, I really suggest that you check it out if you like indie pop. He just got done recording his EP a few days ago. I can't wait for that to be released. He's got a great sound, and vibe going. I dig it.

We checked out an unmixed track before heading out. I had a great time. He's really chill.

I wanted to try out some new things for this shoot, lemme know what you dig about it.

This was the 2nd location that we shot at so I will be posting one or two more!

I pulled out this old camera for this week's theme. It has sentimental value to me since I got it from Andrea before she passed. Danbo was intrigued by it and wanted to do a shoot.
