Originally, I thought I might use this slice with a fork for the eponymous theme of my Macro Mondays group; however, I ended up using smoked trout and therefore, I had to “recycle” the pâté en croûte in another food photograph!

This shot is another composite that I put together for AKORN Ent. I shot them @ 2SiiCK Studios. Steven and I did the setup for the shot and I finished it up with the post processing. Steve is back, and we are getting ready for our first Art Auction this Saturday benefiting Ecofficiency.org.
I have been working at getting better with composites, they are not easy and I am still learning. I try to put into practice as much as I can, this was a shot that called for it. I took the background shot on my daytrip to The Salton Sea with Jeff and Kevin. We stopped at the windmill farms in Palm Springs and I shot off an HDR shot of them. I knew I wanted to use this shot as a background to the subjects.
Enjoy,
Hector

note: this is not a composite and an octabox boomed 10 feet above the ground almost 4 feet near water is NOT a good idea... there were a couple of times when the wind would pick up and shake the damn thing..

This is another composite that I put together from some photos that had been sitting in my hard drive since sometime last year. The background was shot by Steve when he went to Yosemite late last year during winter. I shot Nadiah in our studio about 1 year ago and decided that these two shots would work well together.
We have been extremely busy working on weddings and building up our business, things have been slow but moving forward. We are book this entire month and October is pretty much booked as well, so things are looking up. We have been getting a ton of destination wedding inquiry's so we should be traveling to some pretty exotic places soon. We are also working on a few new shoots so we will have some new stuff to share!
Enjoy,
Hector
Little Octabox in front/left side. A Globe rim light behind, in the same side of the Octa. The imagine has been reversed in postproduction
Light test with the Mamiya RZ Pro II and Ilford HP5 film (6x7). Large octabox feathered camera left. 18cm dish flagged on the background. DSLR scan with a Kaiser light panel (D850/105mm micro).
Raina Hein. 5DMKII, 70-200 IS MKII, Octabox on AB1600, background light was reflector with barndoors, on white seamless. Raina was runner up on cycle 14 of America's Next Top Model. Wonderful skin, eyes, lips. Nice person, could not make a bad image with this lady. Makeup was for a call she had that morning. A few different looks with a MUA coming up later.
Managed to fit in a spot of light painting during a great day's shoot with the talented model, Lauren L Loveley at Brian Brogan's Studio 2212. Thanks to Lauren for the help in making this shot and all the other photographers who attended. Roll on the next one!
This shot involves the model standing in front of a huge studio octabox and firing at f11 which leaves a silhouette where Lauren is stood. Lauren then moves out of the frame and I fill the space with a home made RGB light tool, easy once you work it out!
Strobist info :
One main light with a QT600II Godox strobe in front of the model, just over my head in an octabox (at 1/2 at 1.5 meters of the model 2.2 height). One fill light with a QT600II Godox strobe on the left side of the model in a 80 cm x 80 cm modifier.
Post Processing :
Eyes retouch, Dodge and Burn, Contrast, Color search, Cartoon Touch.
Godox AD200 in a Glow EZ Octabox, Godox X1 pro trigger.
Strobe placed camera right at approx. eye level.

This is Jeff, and he is Nadiah's boyfriend. He is an up and coming actor/model and needed some new shots done. So he came by the studio and we did a whole series of work with him. It was a lot of fun and I even managed to get a few frames of him and Nadiah together. Jeff was easy and fun to work with, he is in St. Louis right now auditioning for a few roles in some up-and-coming films!
Enjoy,
Hector
SO! Finally got to try out the B1600's and some of the new modifiers! Went out to shoot with my buddy Pete. Pretty stoked on the outcome of this!

Lighting was a 30" octabox from dx.com camera left, inside it was a yn 560III speedlite controlled by a 560 controller. Post production was done using a Kodak Porta VC preset in lightroom, and then retouching was done in photoshop 2014 CC.
