Festival Svijet i TAMBURA je projekt Kulturno umjetničkog društva Mihovljan započet 2016. godine. Cilj Tamburaškog orkestra KUD-a Mihovljan je ovim festivalom promovirati tamburu kroz sva glazbena područja radi njezinih izuzetnih tehničkih i intonativnih mogućnosti, dosegnuti njezinu popularnost i značajnost kao što su to učinili mnogi drugi narodi sa svojim tradicijskim glazbalima. Uz Tamburaški orkestar KUD-a Mihovljan sudjeluju i izvođači drugih instrumenata čime se postiže svestranost u zvuku, odnosno jedna simfonijska orkestralna dimenzija.

The World and TAMBURA festival has been a project of the Mihovljan Cultural Arts Society since 2016. The principal objective of this festival is to promote the tambura (traditional music instrument) through all musical forms and areas because of its extraordinary technical and intonational possibilities, as well as to reach its popularity and significance inspired by the popularity of many other nations with their traditional instruments. Besides Tambura Orchestra of KUD Mihovljan, many other musicians with various instruments have also been engaged in this project which brings an atmosphere of diversity or a symphonic orchestral dimension.

Objective 3: Composition Techniques

1. Rule of Thirds:

The main focal point of this photo is the bee. When I edited this photo I placed the bee on the upper left cross section to draw the eye across the photo and make the photo more interesting. The bee placement would have also been strong in the upper right cross section, but I don’t believe it would have been strong if place in the bottom cross section, as it would take too much off of the flower. People naturally look to these areas and their eye gets bored when nothing is found.

4. Backgrounds:

The background in this photo is very strong. It is important not to have anything big or distracting in the background and that it coincides with the foreground. The background in this photo is blurred, making sure nothing is distracting, with like colors that match the foreground well. The colors in the background also help the black and yellow on the bee stand out.

7. Texture:

Texture is an important part to a photo. If there was no texture there would be no detail and the photo would be uninteresting. This photo shows lots of detail especially in the flower. You can clearly see the veins that run through it, and it helps the viewer keep focus on the image, and makes it more pleasing to look at.

9. Colour:

The color is very dormant in this photo. The pinks in the flowers stand out very well, as well as the greens in the background help them to pop more. The black and yellow in the bee pop as well because there is no blacks and yellow in the photo to draw away from them. They pop because they are complementary colors. they are across from each other in the color wheel and makes it more appealing to look at, and draws attention because of the visial contrast. The pink is also a very warm and glowing color while the green is a very cool and dark color.

Objective 4: Lighting

There are two types of lighting in the photo. Side and back. The side lighting is both soft and hard, the background is very harsh side lighting but on the flowers it’s diffused. There is very soft back lighting, allow the detail on the flower to show.

Objective 6: Critique

Strength:

The one thing I’m most proud of on this photo is the bee and that I captured it flying away.

Area for growth:

I needed to be at a lower ISO, as a result there is a lot of noise in the photo.

These images are of the skylight in the stairwell to my flat. They are drawings and paintings done on bathroom tiles. My aim was to objectify an image I saw everyday. In order to do so, I produced the view of the skylight in all kinds of ways and from all kinds of subjective viewpoints so that when I put all of the tiles together I would achieve an all round, objective view.

One of the main objectives of meditation is to silence the mind. Some people say that silencing the mind makes one dumb, mentally slow, or quiet. This is not the case. When the mind is silenced, it is relieved of any stressful thoughts. Silencing the mind during meditation carries over into the awake everyday conscious life. It can help one to stay relaxed during stressful moments. Or stop one from over-reacting to a small situation because of the space between thoughts. Quieting the mind can create overall well being. It can create a sense of balance with the world, improve ones outlook, improves ones posture, and improve creativity.

Inducing creativity is an objective of meditation. Many brilliant minds have used meditative states to discover, elaborate, or better understand their next great idea. When the mind slows down it relieves its stresses, then ideas reach the mind without obstacles.

Awareness is an objective of meditation. Being aware helps one to have a better knowing of the self. Being aware of what appears before you during meditation helps one to understand their imagination. Being aware of the breath during meditation helps one to know their breath. Meditating in nature helps you to know your natural self.

Being aware of your thoughts during meditation helps you to understand your thoughts. It’s helps you to understand how your mind works. The thoughts that arise after long periods of thoughtlessness are usually thoughts of a brilliant nature. Being aware during meditation enables one to understand how fluctuations with sound, the breath, nature, visualization, and thoughts will focus the mind, and help you to know yourself better.

It is my belief that the main objective of meditation is to get to the place where you are one with your focus and your thoughts to the point where there is not a thought about it. Just by simply being, and experiencing the moment as transformative thoughtlessness, the mind expands. Thoughtlessness evolves into a variety of mental and physical states which make you feel blissful of pure.

Some say that they cannot meditate because too many thoughts come up. I don’t think that an objective of meditation is to stop the thinking process. I believe in directing your awareness to meditate upon something like sound, or visualization. By doing this consistently the mind will achieve thoughtlessness. Just by coming back to your mantra, breath, sound, or visualization you are meditating. All it takes is conscious commitment, and consistency.

In the Christmas spirt: Hanging the stockings

These images are made up of things I did with adobe illustrator, photoshop brushes, and photos I took at the oasis and the invisible children benefit. I stepped away from graphics for awhile, probably 6 months and recently got back into it. Still kinda rusty but it takes time to get back into something I've been away from for so long.

The image of Ian was made specifically for the scholastic art competition, I was afraid that it wouldn't come out as good as the images I made last year around the same time (the sleep serapis sleep images) but I think it came out nicely. I'm happy with the results.

The one of Justin developed midway during the one of Ian. I was frustrated with how i would make the composition work, so i had to step away from it for awhile. I decided to add the guitar in the background because without it the three figures don't go together.

All in all I'm pretty happy with them. Hopefully you enjoy them as well...

OBJECTIVE:

Evaluate the low-speed stability & control for a "low-noise" version of a HWB (X-48C). Develop control system strategies including limiters to enable a robust and safe prototype control system suitable for future commercial aircraft.

APPROACH:

Conduct flight experiments with HWB 8.5% dynamically scaled model (X-48B and X-48C) Modify the X-48B into the airframe noise shielding X-48C configuration by making the following modifications:

1) Moving the vertical surfaces inboard.

2) Extending the aft deck of the aircraft to the rear.

3) Upgrading the existing turbo-jet engines to higher thrust models (AMT Titan) to reduce the number of engines from 3 to 2.

RESULTS & SIGNIFICANCE:

Handling qualities of X-48C will be different than X-48B and require accurate characterization.

Develop methods to validate the aerodynamics and control laws

Supports NASA's Environmentally Responsible Aviation (ERA) goals of reduced fuel burn, emissions, and noise.

The National STEM Guitar Project, in partnership with NSF Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Centers with funding provided through a grant from The National Science Foundation (#1304405), hosts innovative Guitar Building Institutes around the United States. The 5-day institutes, combined with additional instructional activities comprising 80 hours, provide faculty training on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) for middle, high school, and post-secondary faculty. The institutes present and teach participants hands-on, applied learning techniques to help engage students and spark excitement for learning STEM subject matter.

Nationwide, there are increasing concerns from businesses about the supply of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics trained workers. Science and math test scores in the U.S. are among the lowest around the world.

The goal and objective of the STEM Guitar Building Institutes is to showcase a new way to present learning for students with applied methods.
