Notes: Petiot-Groffier was a businessman in Chalon-sur-Saône, the French town where Niepce also lived.

He was a colonel in the Garde Republicaine in 1830 and the mayor of Chalon-sur-Saône from 1832 to 1835 and deputy general counsel from 1834 to 1842. He was appointed a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1834. He took photographs from 1840 until hi death. In 1854, Petiot-Groffier became a founding member of Societe Francaise de Photographie. In 2007 his photographic lab was discovered in his chateau, untouched since he left it in 1855

I wanted the object to take up most of shot therefore I centered it in the middle. I also had it slightly open in order to make it look like a locket. I found this photo interesting because it gives a 80s vibe (they're black and white photos as well). It's an important photo to my mom and her sister because it's the only copy they have left. I wanted people to feel as if they just found a lost treasure in the ocean. Mainly, I just wanted people to be like, "THAT'S YOUR MOM? COOL, MAN!" For this shot, I used f/4.0 to allow more light into the shot. The shutter speed was set at 1/60 of a second in order to capture the image without blurring the object since my hold on the camera was a bit shaky. With a slightly faster shutter speed, I set the ISO to 400 in order to expose more light. (my mom's on the left btw)

Camera Club exercise to use imagination. Who would have thought there was so much engineering inside.
