Very blessed & fortunate to be back east for second year in a row to join the New York Photographers Meetup group for their annual New York Holiday Photowalk accompanied by my damsel. Seeing my fellow photographers and friends, enjoying & photographing Christmas in Manhattan was delightful. Followed by a wonderful weekend visiting my loved ones. Directly across from One World Trade Center in New York City we find Brookfield Place formerly known as World Financial Center, with the setting sun reflecting on two of its four postmodern distinct towers designed by Cesar Pelli architect in this image from across the Hudson River in Exchange Place Jersey City New Jersey. When World Financial Center was built between 1983 and 1985 on the landfill that was excavated to construct the original World Trade Center Complex, the clean smooth lines of the four towers with distinct roof shape designs blended in well with the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center creating two vast complexes of square footage for office space. The attacks of September 11, 2001 that cause the collapse of the aforementioned Twin Towers, caused severe damage to this adjacent property, but the building did not collapse, but much restoration and re-engineering had to be done to the site including the rebuilding of the Winter Garden Atrium, a glass plaza where all four edifices connect that was completely destroyed. If I named my images, I might call this photograph a full moon & three bridges, but alas I never give my images titles, but that description might be very apropos. It was a full moon at dusk that intersected the space that lies between the historic & iconic Brooklyn Bridge above and the Manhattan Bridge below with the venerable Williamsburg Bridge below the Manhattan Bridge with all three structures which are by the way three of the four major bridges connecting Manhattan to the outer boroughs bathed by the warm light of the setting sun. Taken from Pier 17 in Manhattan. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @nycurbanism @nycprimeshot @nybucketlist #omd #olympus #microfourthirds #micro43 #micro43photography #dusk #sunset @seaportmuseum

The original Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church actually dated back to 1916 when it opened in a small row house that had served as a tavern. It stood at 155 Cedar Street until the tragic events of September 11, 2001 when the collapse of World Trade Center Tower 2, the South Tower, occurred. There was some debate on the final design of the replacement, negotiations with the state of New York and Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava design was ultimately chose, a beautiful design as can be seen in this image. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @stnicholaswtc @wtc @nybucketlist @nycurbanism @nycprimeshot #omd #olympus #microfourthirds #micro43 #micro43photography
“Christmas is a piece of one’s home that one carries in one’s heart.” — Freya Stark
Bryant Park in New York hosts an annual Winter Village including shops and ice skating rink where there is an amazing festive spirit. At the center of the village stands a Norway spruce Christmas tree which is 50 feet tall, decorated with 30,000 red, white and blue lights along with an impressive 3,500 icicles, snowflakes and starburst ornaments.
It was a wonderfully clear day in New York City that day and my eye caught the way the reflections of the sky were reflecting on the slowly cascading water in 9/11 Memorial Pools and shot off a few frames. This was my favorite. Part of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan New York City are two identical Memorial Pools that are the focal point of the memorial. The pools sit in the footprints of the Twin Towers, the former North and South towers. The design the winner of an international competition to choose a design for a permanent memorial in 2003 was won by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker, Reflecting Absence. The pools feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America, dropping 30 feet into a square basin which is visible in this image. In the center is void also visible in this image, but the calming cascading water help make the pools a place of tranquility in the City that never sleeps. A different perspective of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge taken from Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Brooklyn Bridge was the first fixed crossing of the East River opened in 1883. It was also the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time of its opening, with a main span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m) and a deck 127 ft (38.7 m) above mean high water. The span was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge or the East River Bridge but was officially renamed the Brooklyn Bridge in 1915.
⠀
The Brooklyn Bridge is the southernmost of four toll-free vehicular bridges connecting Manhattan Island and Long Island, with the Manhattan, Williamsburg, and Queensboro bridges to the north. Only passenger vehicles and pedestrian and bicycle traffic are permitted. A major tourist attraction since its opening, the Brooklyn Bridge has become an icon of New York City.
