A grey squirel happily munching nuts in the Museum Gardens, York.
Grey squirrels are notorious for displacing red squirrels in European woodlands. They out-compete the native reds for food, feeding more at ground level and being able to digest acorns, which the reds can't. They also carry a deadly pox virus which does not affect them. Grey squirrels were introduced to the UK from the USA in the late 19th or early 20th century. They're now widespread throughout England south of Cumbria and Wales, and common in local pockets in Scotland. They are absent from the rest of mainland Europe, except for small localised populations in Italy.
365/121 - I saw these nuts in the grocery store this morning and knew I had to photograph them today. It helped that I had the afternoon to myself.
"Beer Nuts, Beer Nuts, Beer Nuts, in a rich caramel malt custard with ribbons of special hardening chocolate. A Kopp's exclusive developed specially for dads!"
This is the Father's Day flavor. The custard itself is fantastic but as you can see, it was already melting when they gave it to me. Shame. The add-ins are fine but I would have liked it just as well without them.
This is a shot from a photo shoot that I did back in June for my best friends campaign project. It's for an organization called 'Nuts 4 Ribs' and they host an annual BBQ (where they cook ribs) to raise awareness for Testicular Cancer. It's a great cause to get men to understand that they need to be checked yearly. Most of the other shots are nude men, so I figured I would post this one instead since she has a bikini on atleast. Enjoy.
Day 240 - The best nuts (well my choice anyway) - KP Dry Roasted.
Best hide them now so I don't scoff the lot!
It really grates the nuts to a nice fluffy dry texture. Walnuts come out coarser than harder nuts like almonds, but still very different than the oily paste they become in the food processor.
My lovely granddaughter trying on the Christmas glasses in the shop!

Spices, nuts and dried fruits of all colors were for sale throughout Kashgar. This photo is from an indoor market. As far as you can see down is more just like the foreground.

Gregg loves nuts! There is a mountain of Blue Diamond Nuts on his desk at all times. Behind the nuts are cartons of gum. It's pretty unique.

Pecans, to be exact. I found a new cookie recipe that uses a banana, white chocolate bits and pecans along with the usual ingredients. They're not my new favorite cookie, but they're not bad!

Corylus x hybrida
Highly Prolific Producer of Delicious Nuts
Selected from the most compact, productive and highest yielding plants, Kens Select Hazelnuts are handpicked from a limited number of plants with the best flavor and disease resistance. Even though nut size may be slightly smaller than our Precocious strain these seedlings have the best overall performance in our plantings. Many of the plants had fruited in two years from seed and average 2- 4 ft. tall after 6 years. This compact type growth often leads to higher yields per plant like a dwarf spur type apple compared to a standard. Most of the genetics come from the American hazelnut, Corylus americana, which always performs the best in our location no matter what the ups and downs in spring weather we experience. Height 3-8 ft. tall with equal width. Can be pruned to maintain a lower height if needed.
Week 13 - Vice
Had a real hard time trying to get this one into my head. When I first saw 'Vice' I was like WTF!!!!, then a plan hatched!
Vice... Vice like grip... grip.. women griping **PING** ;) picture was born! Only problem was i couldn't get any walnuts, asked in 3 supermarkets...."We only do them at Christmas..." damn it, plan scuppered! Until Goggled to find a supplier on line!
3 Days later, BAMM! Plan back on! Tried several different types of shot of which these two are my favourite.
Which do you like?
