Many betel nut trees grow in Chushan. Some people have stopped growing betel nuts because so many people grow them. The trees have a hard bark -- it feels like concrete. When betel nut trees die, the top drops off and they gradually rot. Betel nuts sold in Taiwan give people a mild high and stain their teeth red.
