Creighton Dance Company’s production of The Nutcracker recounts the classic tale of a young girls journey, beginning at her parents’ Christmas party and into her nightmares and dreams. Eventually, Clara is transported to a land of “sweets” where she is entertained by the Sugar Plum Fairy and other dance “confections”. She is accompanied by her beloved Uncle Drosselmeyer, and the Nutcracker “doll” (transformed into a “Prince”) that he has given her as a gift. The cast features dancers from the Creighton Dance Department and younger dancers from the metro community.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of The Kansas City Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. For one young dancer, nine-year-old Tyler Palmer, it’s his first year taking classes at the Kansas City Ballet and his first year in The Nutcracker. (He's pictured here with his mother, Angela, and older sister, Jerica).

The library welcomed Charles Kubricht for a Nutcracker Puppet show. With the holidays approaching, everyone is getting into the holiday spirit.

she smiled and watched and practiced her own moves by the end...
though apparently my 3 year old had her own not so sugary dream last night, as we heard her call out “no, no, no” and some other unintelligible stuff along with a few cries, which sounded too loud to be coming from her bed, so I went in her room and found her standing in the middle of her room, near her door, and when she saw me she said “I need my bag.” Of a flowery, rhinestone type, shopping bag she has. I looked at her concerned about what dream would inspire this to be nightmarish and asked her if she was asleep to which she replied “yes.” Anyway, she was happy to get back into bed and go to sleep, accepting that I needed to lie down next to her for a minute to make sure she was okay. And then, afterwards I fixated on whether or not she had been sleep walking and what trouble she might get up to in the night if she was, and really wished my mother hadn’t told me about some news story of a 3 year old boy who sleep walked out of his house onto some highway in the middle of the night.

Family: Corvidae (鴉科), Length: 32-34 cm.
型態為嘴粗厚有力，先端微向下彎，尾部略長，大多上嘴基部與鼻孔間有剛毛覆蓋；食性雜食性，陸棲性，警覺性高，主要棲息於樹林中，築巢於高枝上，雛鳥為晚熟性。
台灣特有亞種，分佈於二千公尺以上之針葉林，主食松籽，為普遍留鳥。在臺灣,星鴉是特有亞種,和松鴉一樣,都是第一期來臺的寒帶鳥種。因為身上有類似星星的斑點而名之，因為鴉科的鳥智商都很高，所以並不容易接近。
The Spotted Nutcracker, Eurasian Nutcracker, or just Nutcracker, (Nucifraga caryocatactes) is a passerine bird slightly larger than the Eurasian Jay. It has a much larger bill and a slimmer looking head without any crest. The feathering over its body is predominantly a chocolate brown with distinct white spots and streaks. The wings and upper tail are virtually black with a greenish-blue gloss. It is one of two species of nutcracker, the other, Clark's Nutcracker (Nucifraga columbiana), replacing it in western North America.
