As seen on AstronomyPpicture of the Day(apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap161121.html). A nova in Sagittarius is bright enough to see with binoculars. Detected last month, the stellar explosion even approached the limit of naked-eye visibility last week. A classical nova results from a thermonuclear explosion on the surface of a white dwarf star -- a dense star having the size of our Earth but the mass of our Sun. In the featured image, the nova was captured last week above ancient Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai, Thailand. To see Nova Sagittarius 2016 yourself, just go out just after sunset and locate near the western horizon the constellation of the Archer (Sagittarius), popularly identified with an iconic teapot. Also visible near the nova is the very bright planet Venus. Don’t delay, though, because not only is the nova fading, but that part of the sky is setting continually closer to sunset.

I've been after this for absolutely ages, even went hunting for it when I found out where it lived but to no avail. This early, Aug 1st reg GTE is a daily driver and in mint condition. Accordng to the stats there are only 24 1988 cars left taxed at the moment, and the Nova was face lifted in 1990 so I'd imagine these are quite highly prized in certain circles..

Last Thursday's 14.07 Manchester Airport - Edinburgh gets a move on at Bessygill, the Class 397 sporting a nifty NHS support sticker.
We stopped into Pictou, Nova Scotia, for dinner one night. It reminded us of one of those little Lake Michigan towns along the west coast of Michigan. Check out more photos on the blog.

The Yutong GT12 luxury touring coach was launched at the NEC last year, at which point I controversially claimed it to be the main highlight of the event. Fast forward a year and I stand by my point. The GT12 is an incredible looking vehicle, well deserving the 'grand tourer' tag usually more fitting of Maseratis than coaches, and I am glad to see operators taking to it - this example, registration NO69GTL, is for Nova Tours of Chesterfield. It looks even better in their colours than the demonstrator did at NEC '18.
