Quick snaps of my Moleskine to show a friend (and possibly for an article trying to inspire others to write their thoughts down).
I use mine to collect observations and thoughts on communication and culture, plan social experiments, and even think about the occasional LEGO model. Jimbo started out in this book.
My handmade notebook in my wedgewood design - the way it turned out just reminded me of the classic wedgewood pottery.

Found two of my husband's grandfather's ledgers in a drawer in the garage. It reminded me so much of the Field Notes notebook, I had to photograph them together. However, Grandpa's "Field Notes" has much more cred containing, as it does, all kinds of planting and farming tables in the back, and tractor info. Mine contains dirty stories and notes on the bathroom tile.
Just thought I'd add more info in light of the additional visitors the past few days: Grandpa was a real farmer right here in Los Angeles before it got so crowded. He immigrated in 1908 from the Basque country on the border between Spain & France. He started with a dairy farm in the neighborhood of El Sereno for about 20 years, then moved to Alhambra (so his four lovely daughters would have easy access to the big city) and ran a hay farm in the nearby neighborhood of Monterey Park. There's no evidence anymore of these farms other than photos, these ledgers, and a few milk bottles and scraps of rather terrifying cattle equipment in the back of our garage.
My husband and I live in the 1936 house in Alhambra that grandpa bought to be closer to the hay farm. A friend of mine lives just down the road in what used to be the middle of the farm. It's so fascinating to me to imagine what Los Angeles used to be like - say when Grandpa arrived from France in 1908, or when his daughters were running around in 1930's LA, making shopping trips, going to movies in the old movie houses, riding the Red Cars, going over the border to Mexico for some partying.
Well, if that wasn't fun, I don't know what would be.
I bought a leather notebook cover that was just gorgeous. GORGEOUS. I wanted more. So many more! Well, at least one more. I decided to try my hand at making them and it turns out I did an okay job. Mine aren't anywhere near as sturdy as the original, but making them was super fun and they're sturdy enough.
I had a hard time finding thick leather in awesome colors. The brown one is made from some leather I already had, and it's the sturdiest. It did, however, give my corner punch (the blue thing at left) a run for its money. The other leathers are from this etsy shop. So much prettiness! The best stuff is the teal/blue pull up leather. The metallic stuff is okay, too. Suede didn't work at all, no matter how thick (way too floppy).
These are made to hold up to 4 notebooks, the larger hold Field Notes and the smaller the wee Rhodias.

I'm glad Midori responded very fast by accepting my suggestion to make Traveler's notebook more usable. The original open pockets can't store much. Now they plan to make a pocket with zipper than can store receipts and passport in a quite safe way. The plastic pocket can be inserted in the elastic band that holds the paper notebook

This is my stack of notebooks, most of which are Moleskine notebooks. I have written in less than a third of them, but I feel I should stock up for when I can take my trip to Polynesia or the Australian outback.
I made both these in the bookbinding class I took. Reversible robot-printed paper -- looked like scrapbooking paper. The one with the red exterior has an inner knot to the binding and the other one has an out knot.

A bit stumped for a shot today - 'twas pretty much a run of the mill day at work, but at least when I snuck out for lunch, I managed to remember my notebook..
Sure, it's not as awesome as a Moleskine, but heck, my handwriting is terrible as it (so I need the writing space). I generally leave it floating around in my backpack, and normally pull it out to sketch down ideas for projects I want to work on (well, at least when I finish the current one, and have more time for it).
Some sticker backed letters, left over from a cut and paste logo project, pasted into a Moleskine sketchbook.

The pens: Montblanc mechanical pencil No. 350 and Pelikan fountain pen M 150.
