Notebooks and pens.
On the top: my first, entirely self-made notebook. 48 thread stitched blank sheets of paper, 192 pages, 9.0 x 12.5 cm (3½ x 5''). Book thickness 2.5 cm (1''). Brown linen cover. 3 ribbon page markers in red, yellow and blue. Headband and 2 expandable inner pockets.
Below: notebook, 192 squared pages, 10.0 x 14.5 cm (4 x 6''), 1 black ribbon page marker and 1 expandable inner pocket.
The pens: Montblanc mechanical pencil No. 350 and Pelikan fountain pen M 150.

Earlier today I was in Sainsbury's and bought myself this notebook and matching pen ... just because I liked them :)
Then come the point when I needed to do a daily pic, I looked down the treasure hunt list and there was number 50 Notebook.
this year, i was not so good in my journaling habit; i did not write as much as i should.
it's the end of the year now, and my stack of blank notebook remains as big. i keep accumulating these faster than i can fill... still, it's so nice to have friends who give me notebooks as presents.
this year, my resolution is to fill up as much of these as i can.
Handmade Nautical Chart Notebooks - I've collected LOTS of nautical charts over the years - its seems like as soon as one of my chart using scientist or sailor friends heard I was re-using them to make notebooks and journals, more and more found their way to me! I made some cute little sets of three books - these were also featured on the etsy blog as part of a post about packaging!

At this end of my notebook I list any book I see which I think might be worth buying/reading. I've been keeping it for quite some time - more than ten years - I'm up to book 903. (Speaking to the Heart by Wendy Beckett - an anthology of poetry, I bought it last week, but most of the books I haven't got. A tick means I've bought it, R means I've read it but not bought it.)
The notebook is around half full with only a couple of ideas used. I need to get my arse into gear. I don't know why I have drawn a tree on this page and no, I didn't draw this photograph before I took it.
I'm the first to admit that my drawings are rubbish, stick men are probably the pinnacle of my ability.
Oh and I'm not paranoid, honest.

This notebook is made from felt and was hand embroidered from a pattern drawn by myself.

Cutting Corners is a coptic bound notebook covered with natural linen and decorated with an image of scissors (from a 50's school book). 48 pages of smooth and thick white paper, sewn with waxed natural linen thread.

From a site of two derelict buildings in the dOKUMENTA city of Kassel that over 40 years ago housed BIER GROSSHANDLUNG NEUENHAGEN, a wholesale German beer distribution company.
A dear flickr contact who runs a construction company in the process of clearing out and renovating this site generously provided me access to photograph on August 16, 2012.
"Last Orders" is what pub owners call out to their customers, a few minutes before closing time.
I have this App on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook and each of the notebooks keep me well organised from booking each of my fitness classes at the gym, keep my diary of any payments to be made to the bank, a shopping list of items to be purchased, all photography challenges, recipes that my wife comes across, and all of the books (e-books) that I plan to purchase and read!!
I'm organised 😉

This icy white journal has some interesting stitching - I'd seen some "French" stitching for regular hardbound books and thought it would be really nice to have it visible on the outside of the spine. Attaching the covers was the trickiest part because I didn't want to disrupt the crossed stitch ladder effect on the spine.

These notebooks aren't worth the $20 they charge and don't really go with the whole Sir Allen Lane, "We believed in the existence in this country of a vast reading public for intelligent books at a low price, and staked everything on it."

I made this idea Notebook for Ornament Thursday. This month's theme is "Sprout". OK, how does mine exactly reflect that? Well, I think the word sprout was chosen to represent spring and new life and a new beginning. I figure, with the weather being nicer and the season being a new and fresh change, it is time to "sprout" with new ideas and keep them organized. I hope this doesn't sound like too much of a stretch....geez. I just didn't want to do the typical flower project or green/spring project cause that's not really me.
I'm really proud of this. I feel like it is a true reflection of me and my sensibilities. I love, love, love neon...always have (since making bookmarks for kids in 3rd grade on neon paper my parents had at their office and selling them for 10¢ a piece) and I love the pop art/posterized feel of the photo. I actually used to take markers to photocopies as a kid...as shown here...

It is hard for me to do this sometime...figure out truly who I am. Working as a designer in many different facets, I have to design for others and their sensibilities. Sometimes you get lost a bit in the shuffle. This feels good.
