Completely handmade by a friend. From dyeing the leather - to stitching it - to making the copper plaques! These are used almost everyday I have one for daily notes, one as a flip-top reporter's notebook, and the third for a watercolour pocket book.

I've kept a Journal for years … and currently use A5 notebooks with covers of various colours. So I thought I'd play around with the covers a bit!

A macro view of spiral notebook rings, taken for the Flickr Friday group theme, "Ring." The frame spans 1½ - inches across.

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights positioned 45° CL and 90° CR, one-foot above and two-feet away from the subject. The speedlights were fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 power through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes.

The SB900s were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X triggers.

Lens: Tokina AT - X M100 AF PRO D (AF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro).
