Hey its Nebraska... With the game playing in the background... Nebraska (Huskers) Football was in session and if your a College Football Fan... That takes precedence over storm chasing. Some might laugh at this but their are some small rural towns that will shut down during a Husker Football event. Win or Lose!
I would have to look back to this date and see whom played that evening, but the Huskers had a substantial lead and I knew this was coming close. Packed up a few cams and headed out for this September night storm.
This was a beauty. This storm cell was pulling out some incredible cloud to cloud lightning. It was illuminating the night sky with some frighting delightful thunderstorm ambiance! Not only did I get this, a nice wall cloud was present the whole time but never produced a tornado that evening. Sure was purdy to look at though as you can see in this set of captures.
Eventually this storm would become outflow dominate. Once you see the shelf cloud forming then this storm changed. With all that ambient lightning it made this one of best night storms of 2013.

Note, written on a piece of cloth and tied to a green bike that's been rusting on the bike rack for about 2 years.
The note explains that the bike isn't abndoned, the lock is just frozen. The other bike that the frozen lock is holding can be thrown away, but the owner will "fix up" the green one, presumably after someone else removes the lock.
The chain and other moving parts on this green bike are rusted into one solid piece.
Note the light brown wing spots, and the pattern of dark marks on the thorax, which are diagnostic features for the White Legged Damselfly
oops! note: the pinky break is actually a basic sleight of hand technique used by magicians to mark a card in top position of the deck. . dont have any connection to this picture, of course... it just crossed my mind when i saw the bright pink flowers. cant get magic out of my head. =P
people always say, "magic exists all around us. you just have to know where to find it..."
Today my home was surrounded by all three emergency services as the house nextdoor was on fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

It's amazing what a post-bereavement house clearance can throw up. My Dad had kept these long obsolete bank notes in his wallet - and now we will never know why.
