#1 Rapidograph and Daniel Smith watercolor applied with flat Kuretake waterbrush on 10x7 Canson sketchpad.
Back to pen and wash today. Only my second attempt at water. My first attempt was one of my very first watercolors, done in the same park (in that one, I'm sitting in the shelter pictured here, looking across the pond to where I did today's sketch).
An attempt to sketch quickly as possible. My original intention was five minutes sketching in pen and five minutes painting. When it became obvious that I was breaking the first 5-minute pen limit, I just concentrated in finishing in 20 minutes.
The color in this isn't bold enough. I have found that this Canson paper is more heavily sized, so it doesn't take the color quite as quickly as Moleskine watercolor paper. Sometimes I forget. I was more bold in the next sketch. I might have done better on this one with a bit more time.

I generally like my scones more... ummm... biscuity... and less cupcakey... but it wasn't too bad. I shared half of it with Daryl.
A page of my (scribbly) notes from a little something we've been working on. It deals with Neopets, Neopoints, and items, as you can clearly see.
Edit: This was just before I switched to using my iPad for notes, which helps me keep my thoughts way more organised because I can edit the page and move things around without rewriting the whole thing. Hooray!

NOTE: If you would like to see pictures from Partille Cup 2008, they are here.
Every year since 1970, Göteborg hosts The Partille Cup,which is now the world's largest team handball tournament, with over 900 teams participating. While handball is generally played indoors, the only way to deal with the sheer number of teams is to have many playing on artificial turf outdoors.
In the event you live somewhere on the globe where team handball is not part of the sporting culture, you can learn more about it here.
For those familiar with the sport, you may want to read more about "the other handball", more formally known as American handball.
See that? We can all walk away from this having learned something...

Happy Last Week in July,
Hard to believe we're nearly 7/12ths done with 2015. Speaking of time flying, while at dinner at my folks' place this week, Nana trotted out a box of Lego I played with as a kid. Seeing toys I loved, 30 years later, left me with a wide smile. I instantly started piecing together familiar, but forgotten bricks. Watching the boys enjoy the toys widened my grin. Was nice to see that circle close. Thank you Nana for giving me the same great gift a second time.
If you'll remember my mail from last week... We killed Ellie, the boys' goldfish, in less than 24 hours. Naturally, we endeavor to teach our kids the power of persistence in the face of adversity. So, to that end, this week, we acquired 7 new goldfish and a second goldfish bowl. New fish. New equipment. Same result. 7 dead gold fish, and another gold fish funeral, in less than 48 hours. #BestParentsEver We're going to take a little gold fish break over here.
Was time this week for my annual jam batch. Pluot on Monday and Mango Habanero on Sunday. Both were might tasty if I do say so myself. Come on by and I'll happily share.
Saturday was soccer day. The boys had their customary morning practice, which preceded a very special treat. I was given a gift of four tickets to see Manchester United play Futbol Club Barcelona at Levi's Stadium in the afternoon. As one friend said: "You're setting the bar pretty high there, Mike." ManU and Futbol Club Barcelona are two of the world's most prestigious soccer teams. For the boys get to experience this as their first game was a unique opportunity indeed. The twins had a great time, left it all on the field, and crashed on the train ride home. I was particularly proud of the thank you notes they wrote to their benefactor.
Happy, lucky, and thankful. It's a great way to live.
Have a wonderful week.
Mike

This is the way a "note" used to be sent. This is part of a collection of old correspondence, christmas cards, post cards and valentine cards that I've had for years.
It seems I am sooo behind that I lost track of the deadline dates! lol Well I can't post it to the challenge but I can share with my contacts! Maybe I should make a "note" of challange deadline dates!
