I went bike riding last night. First time on a real bike and although it was a chilly ride, being able to move fluidly and quickly was wonderful. Recovery from knee surgery is slower than I had anticipated.
I watched this eagle being able to hover in one place by slowly flapping his wings while searching for prey.

The architecture of a service centre built next to the Fjallsárlón glacier lake, known for icebergs drifting on its surface, had to fit the landscape and be built with regard to nature.

Valles Marineris, Noctis Labirinthus and north polar cap are clearly visible. The volcanoes Olympus, Arsia, Pavonis and Ascraeus Mons can be seen on the center right.... on the upper left the thin film of Mars atmosphere is also visible.
Barrow/Utqiagvik, Alaska-17222
During a past birding trip in the northern Alaskan town of Utqiagvik/Barrow , a mate and I were driving the coastal road looking for birds that might be flying along the beach and to our absolute shock and surprise there was this Polar Bear standing on the frozen Arctic ocean, no more than a 100 yards of the beach eating possibly the left overs from dead seal or whale?
We ended up watched him from the beach for about 20-30 minutes, "it seem like hours" before he moved on. During the time he was eating, every once in awhile he would look our way, just to make sure we were not getting too close.
looking through the camera view finder it added to the tension as it made him feel even closer, this is definitely a wildlife highlight and experience I will never forget.

Visit this location at North Pole - A Romantic Winter Escape in Second Life
During a flight from Osaka/Kansai (Japan) to Helsinki (Finland), we came within a few tens of kilometres of the North Pole.
There is no normal day-night cycle at the North Pole. Instead, the sun rises at the March equinox and sets at the September equinox. In between, there is either polar day or polar night. This photo was taken about 36 hours after the March equinox of 2026, so that the cloudy scene is illuminated by a very low sun.
