Yes, it's energy and it's green but unfortunately we can't plug into it. This was a spectacular Aurora I captured on the 23rd of March which was the result of a surprise solar storm. The most awesome Aurora I've seen so far!

It was quite strenuous hiking for the rugged face of the cliffs...but was much rewarding to view the amazing beauty of the Arctic Ocean and the landscape from the top....taken in Svalbard, Norway
I am crazy about wild irises. I was delighted to see that they are beginning to bloom in the field where we train the dogs. Choose the one you like the most.

Barrow/Utqiagvik, Alaska-17157
During a past birding trip in the northern Alaskan town of Utqiagvik/Barrow , a mate and I were driving the coastal road looking for birds that might be flying along the beach and to our absolute shock and surprise there was this Polar Bear standing on the frozen Arctic ocean, no more than a 100 yards of the beach eating possibly the left overs from dead seal or whale?
We ended up watched him from the beach for about 20-30 minutes, "it seem like hours" before he moved on. During the time he was eating, every once in awhile he would look our way, just to make sure we were not getting too close.
looking through the camera view finder it added to the tension as it made him feel even closer, this is definitely a wildlife highlight and experience I will never forget.
Went to walk the river trail, but the woods were too dark. Went to the lake to watch the sunset, but the reflections were more spectacular.

After several days of rain I went to the fields at Chena Lakes to see what new wildflowers had emerged. The fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) is beginning to bloom! This is not my best firweed shot, (although I have to admit I like them all), but I loved the surprise of seeing the tiny flying insect when I viewed this on my computer. It was a magical afternoon.

The Aurora started up last night with some bright lights! So bright that you can see the green tint on the snow bank and frozen river. I think this was my best Aurora experience thus far and then I learned that we had quite the unanticipated solar storm event that night. So, that explains why I saw what I did. But boy what fun that was to see and capture the lights! The two bright spots of light in the sky at the right are the planet Venus (higher) and the crescent moon (lower).
