One of the very few things I love about snowy days like today is that the temperature is so mild. So if you don't mind getting wet you can take a fairly nice walk.
We're due to get a dumping of about 15 to 20cm by the end of the day, so I figured if I wanted to shoot outdoors I'd better head out early-ish today. So after round one of shoveling out I went.
Does anyone else find it easier to run through the snow rather than walk? I must have looked like quite a sight running through a field tripod in one hand and my camera in the other. I didn't fall, thankfully. I must have used up my one fall of the day today when I went down the stairs earlier. I think that was the better option though, since other than a few bruises on my shoulders and back, my laundry remained uninjured, whereas I don't know that my camera would have been able to say the same if I'd fallen in the snow.
Hope everyone has been having a good day.

I wish this hadn't happened.
But it has.
And I'm so angry.
No one deserves this.
No one is asking for this.
I will grow stronger from this, as we do in tragedy.
But if given my way, you would suffer.
You'd see my face in all things.
You'd hear my pleas in all words.
You'd feel my hatred in everything you touch.
I want it to haunt you.
I really couldnt think of a better title. Ah well. Self portrait taken little after I'd woken up. Dont have hair done or any make up so yeah.. this is "morning" me ("morning" because it was afternoon :-P)
Dad left this morning for Detroit which leaves the house to me. I slept in until 12:00 which already made me feel better. I mostly sat around and watched some of my favorite shows (Intervention, CSI: NY).
Things will be okay and start to brighten up. I just miss Paul. I liked him so much and gave so much of myself to him. I know I will be fine though.
I also finally have my 365 all uploaded and I am back in order. Whew!
It is holiday time and there were many people visiting Glastonbury Tor today. Some way ahead of me were 3 young people walking barefoot up the path. They were walking at a similar pace to me but turned to admire the view from time to time. We arrived at the top at the same time. I lay down in the sunshine not far from them. It had occurred to me that they might make fine additions to my strangers project but I didn’t want to interrupt them, if it might spoil their time together.
An opportunity to meet them presented itself. You can read of this in the description of my stranger 482, Anthe. As they had plans, I didn’t have much time to chat with them but I did discover that Carolina is from Chile and that she sings. Carolina enjoyed the wind in her scarf and I got a good shot, where it looked like she was flying. At least I think it was good, I took it using Anthe’s camera – so I’ve not seen it yet.
This photo, I took with my own camera. Carolina is holding her scarf in a similar way but the lens on my camera has a longer focal length, than the zoom that had been on Anthe's camera - so I didn't get the same kind of effect. Maybe I'll ask Anthe for a copy of the images that I took with her camera and post one or two later.
When we made our goodbyes Matiu and I shared a hug. It seemed as though Carolina and I might have too but I think that she worried about my British reserve.
The friends got back to their plans and sat on the grass and made music together. This time they all sang. It sounded lovely. Carolina is a singer/songwriter and you can discover more about her at www.linahrocio.com
Thank you Carolina for being part of my project. It was good to meet you. Best wishes.

22 years ago yesterday marked the first time i treated my eyes to my beautiful v... for me it was love at first sight... it was at a wedding rehearsal.... we were both in the wedding... we then danced the night away the next night after the wedding... here's how i described it in a letter to v written a couple of months after we first met... (v is so wonderful... she saved every letter i ever wrote her... it is quite a stack)...
"over the past few years, i was convinced that i had become incredibly unattractive to women in general.... i considered making a change... i considered becoming a writer... a businessman (applied for my MBA and was accepted at Stanford and MIT), a bum, a traveler (Tibet no less), an astronaut (i applied to nasa), an MD, who knows? After several months of basic seclusion in East Austin, I went to a wedding of a childhood friend. I only attended because i felt a sense of duty since i was asked to be a groomsman. during the rehearsal, one of the bridesmaids caught my eye, and to my surprise I seemed to have caught her's too!! At the following dinner, she seemed to go out of her way to talk to me. At that point, any woman would have to make an effort to engage me in conversation. i asked the bride and groom for "the story" of the lovely lady... i was quickly told that she was "figured to be fixed up" with the best man... oh well. later that night we spoke some more, and i barely perceived something in her eyes... something i hadn't seen in years... the next day at and after the wedding, i couldn't take my eyes off of her, and again to my surprise she seemed to keep her eyes on me... then late in the night during a clumsy slow dance, i saw that light in her eyes... the light i needed to feel again. She was beautiful as i held her in my arms tripping over my feet to the slow rhythm. i quickly asked for her phone number... i had to see her again... i had to see those eyes again... sometimes one must keep the faith, i had lost it... and she returned it to me... thank you!"
later i found out that the woman (penny.. had to be close to 40 yrs old at the time) who came with v to the wedding... told v immediately after seeing v and i together that i'd be the man that v would fall in love with and marry...
but one of the things i remember quite vividly were the dresses for the bridesmaids... they looked like prom dresses... when v and i were dancing one of her prom dress straps broke and hung off one of her shoulders... her left shoulder... it is the single sexiest image i can ever recall... ever... oh for a camera then...
my cheaters
my Gregory Peck's ...specs.
my younger eyes.
These are all the silly names i use to call reading glasses.
Do you have any slang names for eye glasses or reading glasses?
I've been using mine far too much these days. I swear, my vision is really starting to stink. :(

Minuit cadence
Ma nuit ma transe
Le son s'avance
En survivance
Happes ma conscience
Apnée des sens
Reflet ambré sur ses hanches
Réveille mes sens rêve d'elle en danse
L'ivresse a joué
Des corps ont joui
Décence déjouée
L'alcool agit
I got a new camera for xmas, and realised the other day I hadn't taken any photos of myself yet. So, sick & with no makeup (!) I bravely grabbed a few shots. Taken at the same time, by the same window, I got very different effects with just simple editing in Picasa.
Now I have a camera that is really up to the job, I would like to improve my portrait taking this year, and this quick test really showed me what is possible
