Hana, my daughter, likes to walk up Glastonbury Tor too. I brought my camera and wondered if she might like the "stranger experience" i.e. making portraits as though she were someone I had just met.
She said "It was fun".
No make up. Just happy :) and by the way.. yes new haircut!

Me and my left of centre humour asking the mother in law about her first ever appearance in front of me without make-up (after 6 years, at the age of 60 and in the Forbidden City of all places!); her explaining to me that she simply woke up too late and then adding, "These lips really do crave some red, Darling" - all with a protective son keeping a close ear to our conversation.
After this photo, I told her that she's beautiful enough to NEVER need make up. Made them both happy ;-))
She loves me!
This is my pre-bedtime attempt at a french braid.
I never learned any of the things that it seems girls are supposed to innately know. I don't know how to apply perfect eyeshadow, or style or dye my hair, or always smell nice, or somehow magically look hot when I'm hot instead of just sweaty and uncomfortable.
Most of all I never remember to care. Almost all of my pictures are taken without any makeup and that's because I almost never wear it. It just seems like so much work for so little benefit.
When I first started talking to Sam on the internet, I remember we had a conversation wherein I casually mentioned that I was painting my nails and he refused to believe me. He didn't think I was THAT kind of girl.
A friend of mine, while cuddling with his girlfriend at the time and telling her how he loved how girly she was, remarked that he thought HE was probably more girly than I am. I laughed, and we all agreed that he was definitely right.
I used to ride my bike to my therapists office, and one time as I walked in she asked was i wearing makeup, because I had some color in my face, and she was glad that I was taking time out to pay attention to my appearance. No, I was just a little winded from the bike ride.
I used to want to change this about myself. When I was in middle school, oh how I tried. But it was no use. My mother never taught me any of those things that mothers usually teach their daughters, and our budget just wasn't cut out for it anyways.
Now I embrace it. I read confessions from people who say they can't leave their house without makeup on, and I feel awful for them. I have dreadlocks because it's such a low maintenance hairstyle. I never have "bad" hair days, just exceptionally fuzzy hair days.

I'm feeling pretty depressed this morning.
I just do not feel like getting out of my pajamas, putting on makeup, or doing my hair. I debated seeing how I feel about taking self portraits later in the day when I will potentially feel more like prettying up, but I know myself too well.
Putting things off for me means they don't get done and keeping my goal of taking a self portrait every day this month is important to me.
In a way, that turned out alright. I likely would not have taken photos with no makeup on this month otherwise. And while I prefer myself with makeup, I don't feel the need to rely on it. So it feels a little refreshing to put a fresh face up.
I wasnt going to upload this in here just on my fb page because this wasnt going to be part of my 365, and it ISN'T.
I just really like this photo sooo... here you have :)
Hope you like it.
