Me. Simply as I am. No make-up, no digital blur on my skin, no hair-dressing, nothing. Just me. Take me as I am, or go to hell. Said very gently. :)

Strobist: one single strobe into white umbrella on camera right

I'm a mess, always.

Still beautiful with no makeup on. Own your insecurities and make them shine!

I posted this photo to Facebook on the last day of 2017 to signify my final portrait I would post there. Luckily for flickr folks, you'll get new, better, and more frequent updates!

I'm feeling pretty depressed this morning.

I just do not feel like getting out of my pajamas, putting on makeup, or doing my hair. I debated seeing how I feel about taking self portraits later in the day when I will potentially feel more like prettying up, but I know myself too well.

Putting things off for me means they don't get done and keeping my goal of taking a self portrait every day this month is important to me.

In a way, that turned out alright. I likely would not have taken photos with no makeup on this month otherwise. And while I prefer myself with makeup, I don't feel the need to rely on it. So it feels a little refreshing to put a fresh face up.

Hiding ourselves can be hard to resist, but taking joy in living should be our best cosmetic. Is it yours?

I'm a little grease ball today.

Back to life tomorrow, I am not prepared.

Whenever I'm frustrated about something, or sad even I just visit my two old vices, cheese puffs and chocolate. Today it was one of those days so I decided to benefit in a way from my vices and take this self-portrait. Hope you like it as much as I did!

Self Portrait @ 2008 09 28.

no foundation, powder, eyemakeup, mascara, faux lashes.....no nothing.

but the thing I did use, however, are:

1. Circle lenses, aka faux eyeballs.

2. The magical "facing down but looking up" angle, always work great~x]

I loved you grey sweatpants,

no make up,

so perfect.

Our love was comfortable and so broken in.

I wasn't even sure if I was going to post this as an outtake, but it seems a lot of you really like it, so I figured I'd go ahead and post it. I think I don't like it because I'm not used to seeing myself without makeup. Especially my eyes. I always at least have a little eyeliner on. This looks funny to me. But hey, this makes two John Mayer songs in one day. Which is probably not a record, but still funny.

"your flaws are beautiful. they’re what make you stand out. don’t try to be normal, perfect, striving to be something or someone that you will never accomplish. be annoying, be quirky, be different. in truth, it takes a hell of a lot more strength to resist, than to go along with the flow. stray from the path. what anyone else thinks doesn’t matter. let them be boring, let them be the same, as unnoticeable as the people around them. wear flowers in your hair, mismatching socks, and thousands of multi-colored bracelets. press all those damn buttons in the elevator, and piss off everyone around you. have fun now, because there’s always plenty of time to be boring in the future."

Ahhhhh. A nice sigh of relief.

I haven't given a health update in awhile, but many of you have inquired. Thank you so much for caring - It means so much to me!

I saw my Lyme specialist again today and she was just as happy as I was that the treatments are working. It appears that I will be going through this phase for the next 5 months, and I hope that they are all smooth sailing! She gave me two new prescriptions today, bringing the total daily pill count up to 26. Luckily, after 4 weeks of this, I am getting used to the pills - and most importantly, they are working! She warned me that "we aren't out of it yet" but that it is great to see progress.

Since the last week of July, I have been following a (almost completely) vegan and sugar and gluten-free (fruits are okay, but no sugars, honey, syrups, or artificial sweetners, or breads). My doctor confirmed that these diet choices play a large factor in my wellness and how my body fights off the disease. Even when traveling last week, I stuck to my diet strictly (so grateful for the healthy options in SF!), with only a few exceptions (soy sauce, vinegar, and a smidge of sugar in Thai peanut sauce). I am not saying this to "pat myself on the back". I hope to remind you about the great power that food has over wellness and disease control and prevention.

...and an added benefit to this diet? I have lost 20 lbs. since I started it 5 weeks ago, and I daresay I feel better than I did before I got Lyme.

Nichelle was fresh out of the shower, damp hair and all... I demanded some fro shots!
