Changing maple leaf along the shore of Lake Ontario at Webster Park. 20161002-DSC_1375-Edit

Girls on a birthday bash enjoying the Cardiff summer and street music

I took off the top to my hummingbird feeder to let the other critters have a chance at it. Ended up rescuing three Easter Yellowjacket hornets/wasps. Not my intent to drown anything so I was sympathetic and got a small twig for them to grab hold of and moved them out of the liquid.

While one was recovering, I took some macro shots of it at a 2:1 ratio (clear image zoom on Sony's effectively doubles the zoom capability). Even at a 1/1600 shutter speed, the Yellowjacket shaking its wing to dry off is a blur.

Slow shutter speed, Niksoftware Sharperner pro.

This image was captured during my Palm Beach Photographic Centere workshop to Peru. It was captured with a Nikon D-2XS camera with a 70-210mm D series lens using the Nikon electronic file format (.Nef) Shot on Lexar Flash media. All file was post processed using NIKON capture NX2.

Continuing my annual firework display photography to welcome the new year!

Oh yeah, I was just in my neighborhood, so you might see hints of buildings, trees, and powerlines slightly obscuring the fireworks.

My wife has convinced me to again try two different views of the same image. She loves color images, while I love black and white. I figured I'd put it to a vote again to see which prevails. Let me know which you like better, the black and white or color version!

Inspired by the work of others, I'm starting to experiment with ICM. Early efforts were marked by over-exaggerated movement of the camera, but now I'm a lot more subtle and I think this improves things.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE

The Getty with Cloud

I went to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California to see the Photographers Ray K. Metzker and Robert Mapplethorpe. I was amazed at Metzker's work whom I had never before seen and was disappointed with only seeing about 15 of Mapplethorpe's work which was shown. However the entire floor had many other fantastic photographers to see and I was very pleased. I also spent the rest of the day making images of the Center, which was designed by the Architect Richard Meier.

Scenes from an icy rain in Webster, NY today.

Combination of Bokeh and HDR - the motif was an electrically illuminated star hanging from our kitchen window. Shot with the small and inexpensive Nikkor 50mm at 1.8 which is hardly beatable for Bokeh. Hardly any treatment except for Photomatix and some Niksoftware Color Contrast Range.

Yes, it's a cheesy title, but it makes sense for this image. I did a poll at my Facebook page and this was the one we landed on. It had the best story telling of the four images I posted.

I am so excited that I finally got a shot of a Hawaiian sea turtle (aka, Honu)!! I have to say, the sea life at Hanauma Bay is so much less camera shy than that on the North Shore. I've done most of my snorkeling and photo attempts at Turtle Bay on the North Shore, and those fish run (swim quickly) from people. At Hanauma Bay, they nudge people out of their way as they swim by, and I'm pretty sure some of the fish were posing for the camera!!

I took this with my Canon S90 (in underwater casing, of course) that I love so much for a pocket cam (for any kind of camera for that matter)! Editing was done with Nik HDR Efex Pro and Nik Color Efex Pro....and a little bit of Lightroom and Photoshop. :)

I think the treacherous path was worth the journey to get to see the Lower Falls along the Genesee River in downtown Rochester, NY.

All of my recent uploads lately have been with my 70-200 L, heres one with my sigma.

On this Sabbatum Sanctum full of silent expectation, I wish for tomorrow a very Happy Easter to all my Flickr friends.

I will not say “May Reason prevail” because I know it will not, humans being generally fools when they’re not animals, but let’s hope at least that this coming New Year that opens with the celebration of the Resurrection will bring some appeasement to the world, as well as to our very streets.

Fingers crossed !
