Finally back out with a camera, initially we went to Australia for a month but stayed 4 months due to the Coronavirus. All flights back into the UK were suspended until early July, then 2 weeks of self isolation followed our return. The shot above was taken just a 5 minute drive from home at the village of Westfield. Sorry for not commenting on posts and uploads but now I am back and looking forward to viewing & commenting images.

Like Saint-Mathieu, the Pointe du Raz also is one of those “fingers” that Brittany extends westwards into the Atlantic.

Near that site, a small, recent (19th century) church dedicated to Saint They, a local saint, overlooks the ocean. More interesting for archæological purposes is this small fountain, also dedicated to the saint. This type of stone covering is often seen in Brittany and is from the late Middle Ages. It probably replaced a much older one.

Sacred fountains were already revered by Celts and subsequently duly “christianized”...

A bit of an experimental image using an original taken by Eva Schuster on which I then applied a Topaz Labs Impression Oil Painting (Jim La Sala) effect and modified further using Nik Software

I'm not sure whether using another photographer's work and then altering it is considered 'proper', but there seems to be many other examples of this approach on Flickr. So I know I'm not being a 'ground breaker' with this.

Couple walking along Sh. Zayed Road, Dubai. the tree lights are inviting and part of the decoration of a Shisha restaurant

An archived image that I recently edited. BW often displays shape and contours without the "distraction" of colour. Thanks for your appreciation, Gail

Same flower as in the other infrared photo. Just a slightly different stage of blooming.

The way to work is simply unforgettable this morning. As I came to this location I had a very private sunrise wrapped up in mist. The small nano nature reserve looks like a island inside the fence. The fog helps me to make the fence endless, and tho blend out the background. I feel completely isolated from the village behind me. I tried to create a cold suffocating atmosphere with the reduction to the green grass tones and the blue in sky. Completely ignoring the sun's warmth.

This is a colour conversion of the same image I posted earlier but with a different crop.

testing the free trial version of "Silver Efex Pro"

Back in France after our trip to England, and as the beginning of our Summer is rather “thunderstormy”, and therefore not great for shooting outdoors, I will for a few days upload photographs from other recent projects undertaken on behalf of the Fondation du Patrimoine, one of the non-profit organizations I work for as a pro bono photographer.

The ruins of the Cistercian abbey of Vernaison that stand on the banks of River Isère, near the Alps in southeastern France, have been selected as a major restoration project by the so-called “Heritage Mission” of the Fondation. Although there is very little left of the abbey erected in the 1100s for nuns, the remains of the Romanesque apse, as well as some of the adjacent (and later) buildings are impressive.

Among the rubble, sculpted and carved stones await being sorted and, if possible, re-used.

A "Rule 63" version of the The Three Amigos... Las Tres Amigas!!

I used Analog Efex to give the image an aged & weathered look - reminiscent of an old Sepia photograph that had been colorized. I smoothed out the textures with Dfine and Color Efex Pro.

Update: Las Tres Amigas made it on to the Flickr Explore page (July 17, 2019) and was photo number 464 out of the 500 most interesting new photos of the day.

Almas Tower (Arabic: برج الماس‎ Diamond Tower) is a 68-storey,360 m (1,180 ft), supertall skyscraper in the Jumeirah Lake Towers Free Zone of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Construction of the office building began in early 2005 and was completed in 2009 with the installation of some remaining cladding panels at the top of the tower. The building was topped out in 2008, and became the tallest building in Dubai until 2010 when it was surpassed by Burj Khalifa

A couple of days ago I posted a similar shot with a cropping just before the sun. A few of you requested the usual wide format. Here you go!
