I love old stuff, especially cameras. These three are a part of my small collection.

Left: 1948 Ansco Shur-Shot Box Camera manufactured in Binghamton, N.Y.

Center: Spartus 35: The Spartus 35 and Spartus 35 F are a series of 35mm film Viewfinder cameras made by Spartus and then Herold Mfg co. in Chicago, USA., and produced between 1947-1954.

Right: Kodak #1 Kodak Jr. Model A : No.1 Autographic Kodak Jr. is a medium format film folding bed camera made by Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y., USA and produced between 1914-27.

These cameras are sitting on three early 1900's Binney & Smith "An-Du-Septic Dustless Crayon" tins.

Wild evening up at Webster Park.

Time for a more normal length exposure shot. I really liked how the waves here mixed together with the rock jetty creating an interesting sense of motion.

A bit of Nik software Glamour Glow added to the phone shot.

Day 28 of lock down, Tree Fern.

Today we got the first significant snow of the winter here in the extreme western end of Virginia. Since the roads were too treacherous to get out on, I decided to photograph what was handy...in this case, the mail boxes in front of my house.

I actually took this back on my trip to Colorado in late August of 2010.

I was driving from Colorado Springs south to the Great Sand Dune National Park and spotted this side road from the highway. The clouds seemed lined up for a nice shot. Love what the polarizer did to this image.

It's funny how when I first worked through my photos from that trip, that I didn't find this one worth posting. Oh, the subjectivity of creativity. More on that soon enough...

ABOUT THIS IMAGE

Seashore Solitude

A beautiful cove in Cambria, California. Cambria is located north of San Luis Obispo and south of San Simeon. San Simeon is where the Hearst Castle is located and some say the southern edge of the Big Sur area. Cambria is a small sleepy artist colony with many small art galleries and cool natural food cafes as well as your normal array of shops, boutiques and restaurants.

This image was captured during a Meet Up with our 5DIII group. Led by Bob Canepa (bcanepa_photos) and Mike Baird (mikebaird). This is an exciting group all about sharing expertise and information. We also have fun photographing at our meet ups. The group is now morphing into a group with any camera type. Point and shoots to the high end DSLR’s. Everyone is welcome. We meet at different locations every 2nd Sat. of the month and have a different subject matter to photograph as well as going freestyle. I love me some black and white long exposures but every now and then you have to have some color. My buddy Travis is always bugging me about doing color on these... so here ya go.

"Big Sur is a sparsely populated region of the central California coast where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. The name "Big Sur" is derived from the original Spanish-language "el sur grande", meaning "the big south"... The terrain offers stunning views, making Big Sur a popular tourist destination. Big Sur's Cone Peak is the highest coastal mountain in the contiguous 48 states, ascending nearly a mile (5,155 feet/1571 m) above sea level, only three miles (4.8 km) from the ocean."

Big Sur has no specific boundaries. While most definitions of the *south-north* extension of the area include the 90 mile (140 km) strip of coastline between the Carmel River and San Carpoforo Creek, its *west-east* boundaries are less clear. [In my view, the most sensible one] defines its eastern border by the the coastal slopes engulfing the Big Sur, that is 3 to 12 miles (19 km) from the Pacific.

Marker 20

The bay of Morro Bay, California has many markers to show the way for sailors to avoid the shallows and direct traffic. This is one of those markers.

The paint jobs are always good, but my favorite thing about the Solstice Parade is the expressions of the riders. I got this one just perfect with her eyes closed, slight smile, and hair blowing back from the wind.

The Dallas Arboretum has several water walls and they are very popular to all who visit there. I have taken many photos and with this one I told myself to be creative, crazy, if you will. I used Adobe Creative Cloud for the distortion and then added more dramatic color with NIK. The green comes from the plants behind the water wall. Not my typical style, but it was fun to do!
