ABOUT THIS IMAGE:
On this day, which was overcast and drizzly, I decided to drive north along the coast ( Highway 1) and capture long exposure images. I stopped at a vista point near San Simeon below Hearst Castle and captured a few images. I was lucky and was able to nail the
exposure right away.

We had some pretty awesome skies tonight at sunset and I finally got down to these train tracks by my house to take a few shots. I didn't realize that the sky looked so amazing until it was almost too late. Glad I was able to grab a few shots.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE
Rocky Tranquility
A beautiful spot in Cambria, California. Cambria is located north of San Luis Obispo and south of San Simeon. San Simeon is where the Hearst Castle is located and some say the southern edge of the Big Sur area. Cambria is a small sleepy artist colony with many small art galleries and cool natural food cafes as well as your normal array of shops, boutiques and restaurants.

From a weekend hike in Abraham Lincoln Park along Irondequoit Bay, just outside Rochester, NY. Stitched image since I had my 50mm lens with me during our 5.5 mile hike.
I'm redecorating the living room and got a big frame to put on portrait orientation over the fireplace. Since I didn't have anything in portrait orientation that I thought would suit the look I wanted, I decided to go and take a new picture for it. This composition is exactly what I had in mind when I left my house, but the amazing, almost full moon was a bonus I was not expecting!
Processed with Photoshop and Nik's Silver Efex Pro 2
Those that know me know that I'm not a fan of winter. So usually between the months of December to early March, I very rarely go out to take pictures. With work being extremely busy lately, it's probably been since early December when I last picked up my camera. Yesterday the forecast was was overcast, but it was supposed to be in the low 50's. The temperature never got that warm, but I decided that enough was enough, so I grabbed my camera gear and went out. With the lack of color in the area and snow still on some of the rocks, I previsualized this image in monochrome. I'm not completely happy with the composition as I wanted to get a lower perspective, but that would have involved me getting wet, which was out of the question when the temperature was just 37 degrees.
The Pier at Long Island City on a bitterly cold day. There's a seagull in this pic too. He must me really cold too.
One of our cats, Harley, just giving me "the look" as I disturbed her "kitty-cat TV" show (looking at our backyard through the sliding glass door).
I used dodge/burn brushes to lighten the area in shade and darken the white areas on her fur.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE
Rocks on the Water
One of my images on a photography outing with my good friend Bob Canepa at Montana de Oro.
This 2-½ story gray fieldstone house, circa 1790, is the former home of Judge Hugh M. Morris, a Delaware native, respected attorney and distinguished federal judge. Delaware's Division of Parks and Recreation acquired the property in 1998 and made it a part of White Clay Creek State Park.
Built during the mid–1100s by Norman lord William of Albini II, the church of Saint Lawrence in the village of Castle Rising is hailed in the UK as a grandiose gesture and a prowess of overflowing decorative Romanesque architecture. We connoisseurs of Continental Europe Romanesque will probably not be so enthused, as the decoration of this church is truly not extravagant by our own standards...
Nevertheless, looking at the western façade unmistakably makes me think about those churches in Saintonge, as there is an obvious likelihood, even though Saint Lawrence remains very restrained compared to those.
While the inside was almost entirely redone during Victorian times, and will therefore be much less interesting to us, the outside shows a very pleasant and harmonious church, distinctly English as it may be, and lacking, for example, in the quality of its apparel, even on that vaunted western façade.
In addition to the (rather unusual for a UK Romanesque church) western door, Saint Lawrence features this very nice little vestibule or narthex to its (more usual) southern entrance.
One of the views while visiting Corbett's Glen in Penfield, NY. Saw the fish were beginning to run up the stream now that our water levels have improved after the Summer drought.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE
LISTLESS WAVE of LOW TIDE
Finding a new location it was a minus 1.2 foot low tide. A dry tropical storm was approaching from the south and the clouds were growing. For me it was a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors, the ocean and most important, to make an image. I have to acknowledge to very good friends, Stan who told me about Beachcomber (Stan, When I went there I remembered that I had been there before. Thank you). To Bob, who was my partner in crime that day and photo buddy who makes my images better when we photograph together and who also made the weather much better that day. Thanks for the clouds, Bob..!!!
Addendum:
This image is actually an HDR consisting of (3) images. A 4 min, 20 sec exposure, a 3 min, 17 sec exposure and a 2 min exposure. This allowed me to properly expose for the highlights and shadows. The tonal separation was too contrasty so the scene required this approach.
